can I just add that at Brentwood & District Photographic Club I proposed that the rule saying full memmbers must be 15 years old be dropped to allow younger ones to show their prints,as my boy aged 7 at the time wanted to be able to put in prints and a new member(a POLICEMAN)had a 11 year old son too - well, it caused ructions, with a flurry of hate letters being sent to me at home and to the committee, saying I was abusing my position as President for 'Nepotism'and what if the youngsters were to see 'Artistic Nude Studies' in lectures, what about CRB checks, what about insurance etc etc anything they could think of to STOP youngsters putting in prints which MAY have won awards against the usual 'Old Fogeys Group'. There was a 'Special General Meeting' called to discuss and vote on this- many eloquent speakers absolutely swayed the scared ones into voting AGAINST having youngsters in;( they FORGOT that my two had been coming since they were BABIES in car seats, drinking their milk and going off to sleep as the meeting progressed, but as soon as they wanted to be 'Full Members' and put in prints, well that was another story! 11 members LEFT, including my wife and the two kids. My boy is now 9 and won £50 in the Essex Gardens Trust Photo. Comp. and £50 for his school,a mug with his photo on it on ePHOTOzine and that site has started a 'Junior Members'gallery specifically after I put the story on ePHOTOzine and both my kids are on it.

Just did a search on Jessops and all I came up with was some 6x7 tubes at £270! Did you get your Vivtar tubes recently?
I got them must have been about 10 years ago.

Don't use the small flash on the hot-shoe as it will give just a 'snap'looking result-for 'Proper Portraits'you should take trouble to use better lighting and background, such as a plain paper roll or a plain wall-why not use tungsten lights as you haven't got studio flash? You can put in the 'white balance'for tungsten.

Jessops Lakeside Thurrock didn't even have any Jessops 7x5" Inkjet paper;they had only 6x4" or A4.

When I got my Pentax K10D the software says it will not work with Windows ME Edition + PhotoShop 7 so I have never seen the Pentax Software opened.I use a card reader to get my K10D pics to PhotoShop 7 and I have FotoStation given to me by the local newspaper Yellow Advertiser.I have tried RAW in the free Silkypix but cannot really understand it so JPegs suffice! (+ scanning REAL NEGATIVES!)

When I got my bayonet Pentaxes from David S. Leung in about 1986 I ordered the Me Super,a MX and the `120mm f2.8 SMC Pentax-M lens with no trouble - I didn't know it was'rare'. My ex-wife took it when she went off in 1993 as I had bought the 80-200mm SMC f4.5 Pentax-M lens, together with a MX I had bought her from Comet(cheap-£65!).I used the 120mm for lots of portraits but found it disappointing soft at f2.8,not really useable for critical work.( I bought it on the strength of a write-up by Ron Spillman).
