I used superglue on mine but it keeps coming apart. I will have to reinforce it on the inside. Perhaps polystyrene cement might prove better but i doubt it. The problem is that the surfaces are so thin and not entirely rigid.

I wish i had planned my purchase in advance, I would probably come to the same conclusion! I only bought the K7 and a couple of zooms as a stopgap until we get a Pentax FF so i would probably go for Z knowing what i know now! Still the wideangle holder should cure the immediate problem thanks to Anvh.

I have the remote F which i keep with my spare memory cards and takes up very little space. But my favourite is thislink The Seculine Twin 1 R3 which can be used both as a cable release or as an Infra Red release with a range of 50 metres with Pentax and Nikon Camera`s and 25 metres with Canon.

Thanks for that Pete. This looks like agood option but can you please confirm that the seculine twin 1 R3 works with a K20D and does it also allow delayed shooting?

Thanks

Andrew
Yes Andrew, I will work with Pentax, Nikon and Canon DSLR`s. I used it with my K10D and K7 so absolutely it will work with the K20D! And as for the delay you just select that in the camera menu. Here`s one with more info and a bit Cheaper too!link

Pete are you using the wide angle holder?
Thanks Anvh You have solved the mystery! I had been using the A series ever since it was first released back in the 70`s/80`s but when i bought my K7 and 16-50/50-135 lenses i used my Ģ60 discount on the battery grip to pay for the P series adaptors /holder and a grad because i saw them on the display stand. I was not aware of a dedicated holder for wideangle as i had anticipated that the P series was good for up to 82mm i gave it no further thought! So thanks again! I`ll order one today!!!

I hope pentax presents a new camera this year , it is better for pentax userīs and for new buyers ...
i think pentax have a problem in k7 it makes to much noise in iso 800 tham the competticions,...
best regards
Sorry Nestor, I disagree with you
In my experience the K-7 is not noisy at all, I actually found it to be a good performer from a noise point of view.
The trick is to shoot RAW and just expose to the right of the histogram.

There have been many threads about subject in the past. I believe it's an unfair label that the K-7 has picked up.
I think this misconception arises from the fact that the default setting for the K7 is "Bright" which adds a small amount of sharpening therefore noise is slightly increased, Also as the RAW images are displayed in the processing software with in camera settings automatically applied it furthers that impression. It is only when you remove these settings that you can view the RAW image in its pure state. I use the "Natural" setting and find that much more acceptable.

Perhaps it might be worth tracking down second hand gear as i am sure there is plenty of quality equipment around at a good price to start you off.

I thought they were working on new sensors using black silicon technology - Have a read here
This was featured in the Ephotozine News page last year, But i don`t know how close it is to actual production Status. Personally i would say that it was something to keep an eye on for the future but i would imagine the first application might be for Military night vision equipment.

It`s my guess that this new generation of sensor is based on the one that Kodak introduced a year or so ago. Kodak developed the Bayer pattern over 30 years ago and has been used in most sensors ever since. Essentially you have a pattern of four photosites, 2 sensitive to green light, one to red and one sensitive to blue. Kodak developed a completely new sensor from the ground up and apart from anything else the new one has done away with one of the green sensitive photosites and replaced it with one that is sensitive to all colours, Which means that it does not block any wavelengths of light making it more sensitive in low light. In addition each photosite is 50% smaller so that more can be crammed onto a given size of sensor.
