Superb images!

I too have fond memories of the K10.
My first DSLR was the 6mp Ist*DL which was almost like using a film camera, You could really concentrate on taking photographs but had to be treated with respect. The K10D changed that for me as It was much more sturdily built. I no longer had to worry about it getting splashed or dirty. I still used it like a film camera and the step up in image size was very useful. I took more images with that camera than I have with all my other Pentax put together. My daughter still uses it.

I was using my K1 a couple of months ago, It was on a low set tripod in about 1 ft of sea with an incoming tide. I was using my phone to fire the camera remotely from the waters edge. A wave toppled the whole lot and the camera completely submerged. I rinsed it with a bottle of drinking water that I had in my car. It still works perfectly. No ill effect at all. I have regularly use my camera`s in rain over the past few years. The only problem I have encountered was a stiff on off switch on my K5 probably due to a soaking in 20 ft waves (on a lifeboat) and not cleaning with clean water afterwards.

At least it keeps the Pentax brand out there. I rarely buy AP these days, (I used to buy every copy for 25 years) But looking through their ads pages you would be forgiven for not knowing that Pentax existed!

When people ask me whether I use, Nikon or Canon? When I shake my head they run through Sony, Panasonic, etc etc. They are visibly shocked when I say Pentax! Even more so when they see what a brilliant piece of kit it is!
All my FA lenses are IF, 24-70 F2.8, 70-200 F2.8 100mm Macro and 150-450 f3.5 -5.6.

Many thanks for posting! This is the first I have seen about it. I wish they could have an option to send an E-Mail to let owners know of updates!

Just as an aside, I mentioned to the shop assistant about the problem re- the Sigma 70-200. He said Sigma would upgrade the chip for free.

In every case that I have read previously about Sigma lenses not working on new cameras they have only upgraded the chip for free if the user was the original buyer with proof of purchase. If not then there is a charge.

It would be nice if they do it for free but I wouldn't bank on it.
He didn't elaborate, We were just discussing my experience with the K1 as he was going out with one to try himself and I just happened to mention it.
At least it can be fixed

Congrats. Still waiting for SRS to receive mine.
I had just gone in to buy a new Pentax Neoprene Camera strap as my old ones are wearing out. So I was surprised when they told me my grip had arrived yesterday. I was waiting for SRS to announce they had them in before asking my local shop if mine had arrived.

Touch wood, all seems OK so far with mine, some 'scares' turned out to be silly mistakes with me and settings.

Remember you can remove battery, clean contacts on camera and lenses, reset camera to factory settings etc. before sending the cameras back... I have in the past had issues caused by muck/oxidation on battery contacts, lens/mount contacts, and accidental changes to settings while messing around in Menus!!

Works fine with my Sigma 24-70 EX DG HSM, I may well keep this £300 (used) lens instead of buying a Pentax 24-70mm at £1,149!!
Sympathy to those with faulty models or incompatibility issues!!
That`s a valid point!
I have had lenses that stopped working on my K3 but worked perfectly on my K5II, The problem was indeed simply that the contacts needed a clean. I used Isopropyl alcohol.
So well done for posting this!
