Light Advice Please

HI could do with some guidance please! Am thinking of getting a basic lighting kit to develop and expand my photography skills and interests, but unlike the Nikon heads my pockets are shallow. Have been looking at the Interfit EX150 Mark II set up, would this be a good starting point in terms of learning, or has anyone any other suggestions or advice?

I can't really help on suggestions of starter kits for still photography (I work at the megawatt end ), although I might be able to help if you have some general lighting problems/questions.

But if you want to get started for really cheap, how about getting some pop-up Lastolite reflectors and some angle-poise lamps? May sound a bit heath-robinson, but will work fine for a small subject area!

(for my next trick, I will demonstrate how to make gobos for old Patt-23's out of old offset-litho plates...)

I would go the extra few bucks for the Interfit EX 200. It is a distict step upwards and not that more expensive.

The kit works very well and I use one for the occasional times I use studio flash.

i just want to try my hand at lighting and when i am stuck indoors, so any suggestions will be appreciated.

Angle-poise lamps ???? i will google them as I have no idea what they are so thanks again.

Perhaps it might be worth tracking down second hand gear as i am sure there is plenty of quality equipment around at a good price to start you off.

Gareth, if you fancy trying a small bit of studio work, my studio & lights cost me ZERO.

I set up a small table top daylight studio in a spare room.
