Hah! Suffering for your art, nice
This is a fairly regular occurrence for me! Ever since the K10D.

My gear just get`s a gentle rinse down with clean water using a spray bottle, Then dry straight away.

Here`s a shot of me taken today by the local newspaper! I`m using the K3 with 50-135 and a K5 II around my neck with 16-50, This was one of about a dozen soakings that i had in the time i was there.

how about gluing some ribbon to the end of the battery, maybe you could pull it out that way? If you had the middle of the ribbon glued you would have two ends of the ribbon to lift the battery. {Just thinking aloud!)

I agree with the fact that the kit lenses do let the whole package down. Using DA* lenses makes a dramatic difference. His thoughts on the interface rang true for me as the first thing i did was turn that damn screen off! The only problem is that unlike my previous Pentax`s there is no info at start/wake up. So to see which mode i am using when it`s too dark to see the dial means turning the dial back and forth or use a torch. The other thing that i would like to see is the AF button bringing up the AF settings regardless of screen info mode (Even off), These are all things that i can live with but it would make life a little easier for me! Still the overall feel of the review is very typical of AP Pentax reviews! Damning with feint praise!

I've had a string on Pentax DSLRs since the *istDS and never once have any of them locked up.

It's just possible that the dark frame subtraction delay after taking a low light shot with a long shutter speed might be mis-interpreted as a lock up. Sometimes we're not very patient and the camera might be busy.
The K3 is my 5th Pentax DSLR since the Ist*DL and this is the first time that i have experienced lock up. I was simply viewing some images taken earlier in the day. I don`t consider it a major issue, In fact i would not have bothered about it, But as K10D had posted his experience i thought it worth mentioning.

My K3 froze when reviewing an image. It is the first time that i have used it with the grip attached. I wonder if that had any influence.

I have used a Wacom Graphire 4 for years, I have not used a mouse for 8 years! To acclimatise myself to the pen i used to hold it whilst reading or watching tv, Just to get used to the feel of the buttons and the balance of the pen. I began using it for simple tasks at first. But now i would`nt go back to using a mouse for anything!

You have to set Catch in focus to on in the camera menu first,Also if using non autofocus lenses you need to change the aperture ring setting to Permitted.
As stated in other replies you need to have a manual lens or an auto lens with manual switch. The camera set to AFS,(The camera will continue to take multiple shots as long as the subject is in focus provided that you have set multiple shots on the camera) I have used it for aircraft, Sailboarders, Motor rally,Time trial cyclists. Most recently a visit to Gigrin Farm in Wales to photograph the Red Kites. There were hundreds of the beggars! and it was difficult to follow the action as they were dodging and weaving all over the place! I used a Pentax 300mm that i bought new in 1977 set the distance between 50 and 70ft and used a high shutter speed. I had some fantastic images all pin sharp!
Definitely worth another visit!
I have used Catch in focus with K10, K7 and K5 II

I have used the Pentax kit for many years and have found it to be superb (If a little expensive!} I am on my second kit which i bought on E-Bay from Singapore at half the UK price. I second your recommendation!
