I just did a little test with my K7, I switched to live view, focused on a subject and then used the 6X magnifier to see what effect it had on steadiness, I have to say it made quite a big difference to the viewed image on the screen. It`s not quite the same as taking a photo but at least i have more confidence in it working for hand held shots at low shutter speeds. (Not that i go very far without a tripod anyway)If i need to.
Delving into my murky memory banks, I seem to recall that SR uses something called "Fuzzy Logic" which actually creates it`s own vibration and somehow this counters any vibration from the user. So if you are using a tripod then there is no vibration from the user, Just the vibration from the SR.

Thanks for posting the link,
It was Don McCullin`s talk at a Cardiff University Photography course in 1977 that has stayed in my mind more than anything else. Powerful Stuff, Really nice guy!

I have a Minolta Scan Dual 3 that i bought new some 5 years ago and i have been very happy with the results fom Kodachrome Slides as well as from Negs, I do find a little noise removal necessary Post Processing as the scanning shows up the crystalline nature of the film grain. I have produced some surprisingly good A4 prints from images.
I like the fact that you can pre-scan and adjust the image with a comprehensive set of tools before committing to a full scan with the adjustments already made.

I felt gutted when i read of your loss! I just hope it all turns up safe and sound,
I always used to photograph my Phone and E-Mail address onto every Memory Card in a low quality JPEG and then lock it but since buying my K7 i just never got around to it! So guess what i am doing first thing in the morning!
I will also be keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!

Aha very good that one But I can assure you the Liveview on the K7 is a seriously good new tool. Incidentally can anyone tell me where I can get good external microphone for the K7. I've looked in the Comet and Currys shop where I live and they don't seem to sell many and the mics that they have got in the shop when I've asked the shop staff if it's compatible with the K7 the staff give me the "dunno know" answer, which is really handy, not! lol
This is where i bought my Rode Stereo Mic from, They have several that might be suitable plus Camera mounted lighting which might be a future buy for me! link

I have shot many hours of video with mine, Often at music gigs after i have taken sufficient stills of a performer then i switch to video. I only produce DVD`s at present so i cannot take full advantage of HD but as i have stored the clips at full size i can re-burn them to Blu -Ray at a later date. I find a Monopod ideal as it does`nt take as much space as a Tripod (and you can hold it above your head if the need arises!) The built in mic is a pain if there is even a slight breeze (or if you are a heavy breather!) so i bought a Rode stereo mic soon after acquiring my K7 and a copy of Cyberlink Power Director 7 for editing. I am really pleased with it, Though i sometimes forget that i have the function and regret not shooting something later!

Just ordered the 100mm 2.8 Macro from SRS, and the £50 discount was applied straight away, so have they changed the system?

My first Camera was a Voightlander Bessa Folding Camera with Shutter Speeds of 1 sec - 1/500th, Delay Action, B and T settings and a flip out sports finder. Great Camera!
