I think you can get new Pentax ones easily enough from places like SRS. Also seen them in Jacobs amongst other places. Otherwise there are some good other brands like Optech that may be worth a look.

Cheers Jon, really looking for something a bit more hard wearing that the normal "in your face" branded strap ... the Optech looks interesting though.

I love my Pentax Sport Optics strap from SRS, pricey for a strap it has to be said, but sooooo comfy. The whole thing is soft rubber and slightly elastic, absorbs the shock from walking perfectly.
you don't have to be mad to post here

but it does help

Mike,

Don't know if this line is available in the UK, but seen these at Photo Expo Plus in New York in October. Felt really good, and looked to be a good system. Black Rapid Straps I hope this helps.

I just bought one of these for £11 incl shipping from ebay:

First impression, it's great. Quite a bit longer than the Pentax strap (but can of course be adjusted), soft padding around the neck (very comfy and slightly stretchy too) and has quick locks which is really useful. Maximum usable length is about 150cm - works well for over-shoulder (across chest) use for me and I'm 6'4".

The Optech strap is very comfy, much better than the strap that came with the camera, and long enough to wear diagonally across my chest which I prefer. Also, you can unclip it easily which is helpful with tripod/copystand type work.

I just bought a black rapid RS-4, and I can't wait to get it from america. Its a different solution to the 'strap' problem, and one that many have faced on other forum.

If you want to go for a regular strap, then the Optec Pro probably gets the best reviews of all

Thanks for the advice, looks like its the Optech strap then.

Does Chris at SRS give free postage on all stuff to members or just Pentax brand?

T use optech straps because they are very comfy and also with the quick release clips it makes it easy to remove when you are using a tripod.

Free postage on all stuff to Forum members.

I also recommend the Optech straps and have two of them.

I bought my OpTech strap from ePhotozine's shop - got it in four days too which is impressive from the UK.

It is the most comfy strap I have had. the only thing I miss a little pocket for the remote - I was using an old Pentax strap until recently which has two little pockets in it. I shall have to think of another way of carrying the pesky little remote now.

The OpTech strap I chose was the Super Classic with uni loop connectors as I can use the same connectors for my Bino/Cam harness too.
