Just tried uploading a short cliplink to see why the image quality is below par, It appears that i am unable to use a higher quality due to the slow broadband speeds where i live! So sorry guys! I cannot give a demo of the quality of the Pentax / Rode combination until we get a better Broadband Connection (Above 1/2 Meg at least please!!!)
I will keep on trying different formats to see if i can get any improvement.

Regards - Pete.

Thanks for that. Full-bodied sound there.

Shame about the picture quality. It's degraded by something your editing or some other software has done. Much clearer K-7 videos can appear on YouTube by uploading a .AVI file directly from the memory card, but of course then it's not edited.
Yes i was surprised at the image quality too!
I edited in Power Director 7 as i normally do and it uploaded straight to You Tube, I normally produce a DVD and play it on a Panasonic Vierra LCD TV the image quality is indistinguishable from normal programmes.
Still now i have got the hang of uploading i will try some more when i have time.

For starters get a copy of "The Photographers Handbook" by John Hedgecoe.
O.k it`s pre- digital but don`t let that put you off! It will probably cost under a fiver second hand but worth it`s weight in gold!

O.k Heres my first upload to you tube, Not the best choice to show off the Rode Mic but will find something more suitable when i have more time as a lot of it is at music gigs which would breach copyright if i posted online (Though it does`nt seem to put others off doing it!)link

Hope it works!

Wind up led torch? If theres =going to be any darkness I take a Petzl led head torch, keeps the hands free for setting up.
So do you keep it off the floor whilst out & about? I use Lowepro AW's and have no issues of sitting them on mud, snow, wet grass etc, I somehow don't see people doing that with Billingham's? When they get really dirty, I wash them in a bath or shower.

Regards
I do keep the Billingham off the ground as much as possible and this is why i like it as i can access all of my kit with the bag on my shoulder, the loose flap prevents rain etc from getting in. However i don`t worry too much about the bag getting dirty and i do put it down on all the surfaces that you mention and it is washable in the same way, As there is a waterproof membrane between the inner and outer layers. Just last week i was photographing a Burial Chamber before Sunrise and i put it down on the ground that was so wet that i was sliding around in my wellies! My last Billingham 550 lasted from 1982- 2008 and was in a scruffy well used condition. You can buy dark coloured ones if that kind of thing bothers you. My lightweight Lowepro is an AW but i can`t remember which model it is.

Pete how can that be a bad thing, a babe magnet?

Do some of you've a film online with the microphone so that we can hear it?
Not a bad thing in itself just some of them were a little too intoxicated!

I will try to put some on line if i can figure how. Most of my stuff is just burned onto DVD after processing in Power Director 7, I have no experience of on line sharing.

I have been using the Rode Stereo Mic in the hotshoe all summer and found it a fantastic piece of kit, I have used it extensively and have only just put a new 9v battery in. The only drawback is that women seem to have an irresistable urge to stroke the dead cat (Grey furry muffler).
