You are going to have to copy the address of the link wou want to post, but this is not hard - just double click on it then right click and select "copy". Now press the link button and paste the url into the box that appears, then select "OK"..

That will show up aslink

If you want something other than the word "link" to appear in the post, look for the first "]" that appears in the text that this puts into your post. Replace the word "link" that appears after it with what you want to appear. For example if you replace it with "clicky" it will appear as clicky.

Yes you can link one post to another post in another thread. Scroll down the thread to the post you want then look at the top right hand corner. in red letters is the word "link". Click on this then the address at the top of your browser will change. Double click on this then right click and copy and post as a link as above.

Hi and welcome.

I was in the same position a couple of months ago. Lots of friendly and helpful people here given me a hand.

If it's any help to you Scot, these lenses were tested in Digital Photo recently. The Pentax got a panning with 15/25 stars, the Tamron got 20/25 and the Sigma got 21/25 and a silver award. I will scan and email it to you if you want.

The problem is really the batteries. Their performance dips very fast at low temperaures, so keep plenty of spares warm in a pocket just in case.
Spot on as ever John.

I am planning a trip to see a polar bear. Probably Churchill.

I was thinking about carefully attaching a lead to the battery and keeping it next to my body so it kept warm and a plug on the other end that fits the camera.

(Oh and taking my OM1 as well:wink

For those of you who are quite happy with Internet Explorer you can get IE7Pro plug-in which is a free download. It has a built in spell checker and ad-blocker which gets rid of some of the ad's on the right hand side.

4. Why is there "Recent Forum Comments" and also "New Posts" ? Are they not the same? The answer is no but why are they different?
I may be wrong, but I think the 'New Posts' is supposed to just show threads that have been updated since your last visit, while 'Recent Comments' sorts all threads into date order.

5. Why does it say "Editted" on my posts when I only corrected my spelling mistakes (give us at least 2 minutes after the post/comment)
Technically if you've gone back to a post and changed a spelling then it has been edited. Not sure why this would matter anyway? But I agree with the comments above, if I do edit a post I do add a short explanation why.
Sorry to duplicate a post, but

Actually be very warey of IE7pro. It is extremely intrusive, although I do not know if it is malicious. Alarm bells started ringing when I could not set my IE7 home page to about:blank. I uninstalled it and still could not. I went through the registry and removed all links to it - still no joy. I then googled it and there are hundreds of people asking how to get rid of it.

I ended up restoring my last backup. Fortunately my pictures are in a different partition.

On the brighter side, it looks as if Pentax are going to give me my cash back. Nice people.

I have sent all the paperwork I have off to Pentax with a covering letter to try to get the cashback.

I have contacted trading standards who said that given the delay (caused by the supplier) that there is very little I can do.

I will write to Pentax regarding the registration of my gear as I am now concerned that if I had to send it back for warranty repair or service it would come up as a dubious one.
