Hey, I'm getting the dodgy adverts on the side bar on the right again! Sexy Singles from hotcontacts.com. Rotten pictures I have to say.

The ads seem to be connected with the content on the page. For example when I put a picture entitled 'Firenze' in the competition, ads for hotels in Florence appeared. Its just occurred to me that I had used the word 'contacts' in relation to a battery/meter problem in a post and thats when hotcontacts.com appeared. Some fun to be had here I think.

I can recommend Firefox 3 with Add Blocker Plus (ABP).

Adverts? What adverts?

If you use Internet Explorer I can recommend IE7Pro - ad blocker, spell checker, etc

Thanks for that Woodworm. I had stopped most of the little blighters simply by blocking a few words (pagead, doubleclick etc) in my router, but occasionally they got through.

Actually be very warey of IE7pro. It is extremely intrusive, although I do not know if it is malicious. Alarm bells started ringing when I could not set my IE7 home page to about:blank. I uninstalled it and still could not. I went through the registry and removed all links to it - still no joy. I then googled it and there are hundreds of people asking how to get rid of it.

I ended up restoring my last backup. Fortunately my pictures are in a different partition.

Hi Oggy - I'm sorry to hear you've had problems since installing it on my recommendation

I've used IE7Pro (and IE6Pro before it) for several years and not experienced the issues you have, in fact I have my home page set to 'about:blank'. I originally found it as Microsoft have a direct link to it as a recommended plug-in for IE.

I would still recommend this software to anyone using IE, but like anything some people may experience issues.

edited due to dodgy spelling and to add the last paragraph
