I'm looking for a lens for wildlife and flying aircraft pictures, and this one seems to fit the bill. There seems however, to be some doubt as to whether it will be fully functional when used with a Pentax body.

Has anyone got any experience using this lens? Do you get full high speed autofocus and optical stabilisation?

Is the final product likely to be better than a crop of a picture taken with a DA*300 prime?

Although I am new to DSLRs, I have some experience with rechargeables from another hobby, RC flying.

Generally the modelling fraternity as a little sceptical about 2700mAh NiMHs. They seem to loose capacity after relatively few cycles. I had a set in my transmitter for a while, then replaced them with 2000mAh cells and got a longer usable time. In model flying, Sanyo cells are considered th be the cells to have.

Just a quick to those who have Li-ion or Lipo cells - be nice to them, or else this happens

Sadly Father Ted, that will probably not happen. Her funding is hanging by a thread and she did herself no favours last year, missing over 50% of her scheduled appearances I would be pleased but surprised to see her fly again

I got the camera late on a Sunday and had to work all the folowing week so got a bit frustrated, but I did manage this, which I was pleased with for an early effort.

I got into photography in the mid eighties when I bought an OM1 second hand with a couple of lenses. Still works fine, but I thought things might have moved on a little so I went looking at DSLRs. I chose a K20D above the others in my price range for the fact that the immage stabilisation is built into the body, and the solid feel and weight. I also bought the basic 18-55 and 55-300 lenses.

I tend to snap aircraft, wildlife and anything that strikes me as daft or ironic.
