I just got my Black Rapid in the post, and its AWESOME.

Really comfortable, it balances around the shoulder and you can't feel the weight of the camera at all!

Just mounted with DA200, grip, and af540 flash, and it feels maybe 50% less heavy than with the pentax strap. Awesome!

Why so? the K20 is an amazing camera, and just as capable of low light performance.

Not only, but I suggest you don't rely on the high fps of the K7, boxing is all about capturing the moment, and a bit of movement in the photographs will only add feeling to them!

Yes i saw the photos.

I think that being ringside will change your possibilities by a lot, and the close proximity to the action will make use of flash very difficult.

Unless you bounce this on a ceiling - therefore having very un-like boxing style photos - I think that almost any lighting would allow you to photograph with your lenses and fast enough shutter speeds.

Your K7 should be more than capable of the high ISO performance needed.
You could try a 50 f1.4, and shoot with that wide open.

why flash? it will ruin all the atmosphere.

what is the lighting going to be like?

I would suggest 2 cameras, one with 16-50 one with 50-135, or equivalent. No flash, rather high ISO, and that would work out fine.

ANd NO, the 18-250 is too slow for boxing IMO

Yes, that's absolutely true. But its also true that it is very frustrating for the judge to have to tell somebody that their entry doesn't satisfy the requirements of the competition, and it would be so easy to just read the rules, and try to apply them when entering.

I just bought a black rapid RS-4, and I can't wait to get it from america. Its a different solution to the 'strap' problem, and one that many have faced on other forum.

If you want to go for a regular strap, then the Optec Pro probably gets the best reviews of all
