Does anybody have a Metz 58 AF1 or AF2? if so can you tell me the width and height in millimetres of the flash head? Basically I'm trying to work out whether one of these will fit on it.

Fear not, the menu option which damages your camera is clearly marked "Activate Nuclear Self Destruct".

Hmmm, now I have seen a few more pictures and there does appear to be a sort of removable grip attachment which was obviously not attached in the first pics I looked at. However, even with the attachment it still looks woefully uncomfortable and awkward to hold, at least for still photography.

This will never kill DSLRs in the market place until they make it less ugly. Also, it does not appear to have anything resembling a resonable grip on the right-hand side (I have seen some other pictures from different angles). I can't imagine how one would conveniently hold it for taking stills.

If interested in more examples see my earlier thread, where I got some good results and described what exposure settings I used. https://www.pentaxuser.com/forum/topic/fireworks--30273

Also, as somebody here mentioned, use manual focus, preset it and leave it where it is. Never try to use autofocus, it just isn't up to the job!

Use tripod and, if possible, remote shutter release (cable or wireless).

Hmmm on another forum I once frequented this sort of thing used to be referred to as 'thread necromancy'.

I'm not sure if the object is to be realistic as such but I'd rather think realistically than go for some lottery-winning fantasy. So... realistically, I'd have to say I'd start with the three 'core' zoom lenses I have at the moment and add from there. It would go something like this:

Already Have:
1) Tamron 17-50mm F/2.8
2) Pentax DA 55-300mm F/4-5.8
3) Sigma 8-16mm F/4.5-5.6

To collect:
4) Pentax DFA 100mm Macro F/2.8 WR
5) Pentax DA 70mm F/2.4
6) Pentax DA 18-135 F/3.5-5.6 WR
7) Pentax DA 10-17 mm F/3.5-4.5 Fisheye

Mainly looking at the 70mm for portraits, the 77mm F/1.8 would be even better but is probably a bit too pricey.

The 18-135 WR is a bit of a 'compromise' lens but probably the best option at the moment for an acceptable all-rounder that I can put on the K-5 and leave there on crappy weather days.

The fisheye is for pure fun and creative experimentation!

You can't beat DIY Diffusers. If I am ever stuck with just on camera flash I am usually seen runnyning to the toilet for toilet tissue to wrap round the flash. Get funny looks but it works....
Out of interest, do you have any particular method of securing it (the toilet tissue) in place? I have been known to line a very small plastic bag with kitchen paper and pop it over the flash.

I have found the 'Pentax Digital Camera Utility' horribly slow and unstable on both PC and Mac (and the Mac is no slouch with a fast 3GHz 64 bit dual core processor and 4GB of ram). Every other Raw processing software I've tried (RawTherapee, UFRaw, RPP, Lightroom) runs much faster and more reliably.

I've heard folks say the Pentax Software is perfectly good, but in my experience almost anything else works better (sorry Pentax).

After reading several reviews the Q does seem like a bit of a missed opportunity - especially given the limitations of the current range of lenses. Barring the fisheye, you can do more with a decent compact for less money, and without the hassle of having to change lenses at all.

What niche does that leave the Q, exactly? The novelty market, basically.
