What the title says. Other than the occasional use of built-in camera flash for fill I'm new to flash photography so this is a whole new world to me.

#1. Flash on camera with mini softbox diffuser.

#2. Flash off camera, bounced.

Err, we do draw the line at nude self portraits!

(Unless they have artistic merit, of course).
Well I do have the body of an Olympian God. Unfortunately however in my case it is Dionysus, the god of feasting and drinking.

Thanks all. I'll be sure to post a pic or two as soon as I actually do something decent with the flash!

Wow. Interesting. It kinda looks like a black & white conversion of a very mouldy orange at first sight.

Pretend you did it on purpose, print it and sell it to the moronic modern art mob for around fifty grand.

You will be glad you had the 'weather sealed' K5 ?

Like the last one best :-}
No doubt it helps to have a weather sealed body but I still have to be rather careful as I don't have any weather sealed lenses. All of the above shots were taken with the DA 55-300, indeed using every focal length from 55(#3) to 300(#1). I wanted to take some wider shots too, but no way I was going to change lenses in that storm!

I used the built-in camera flash to fill in the bale in the foreground, other than that I'm not sure... but I kinda see what you mean. It's not quite a straightforward black and white conversion though, it's a split tone treatment in Lightroom.

A few shots captured during Thursday's storm.
