Amazing how some threads drift away from the subject.

From filters to jumping (or not) spiders, HE or SHE, eyes etc.

Perhaps we should have a thread on spiders!!

That is a great shot - I too must get to an airshow. The only aerial photography I've done is of birds and insects.

Well Dan - I bow down to your superior knowledge. Found some specimens on Google and it (HE) does appear to be a jumping spider. The wonders of Google.

Mike-P has some shots of it on Flickr and it seems to have at least 6 eyes.

We're getting a bit away from filters - but interesting.

As far as I'm aware this spider doesn't jump - perhaps it liked having it's photo taken and just posed for me!!

It was extremely small - I was very close to it with my Sigma 105mmm Macro. Great lens.

Hi Ray

My view is it's better via your home insurance - but make sure the cover is 'All Risks' for Personal Possessions and covers you in and out of the home. Mugging I am sure would be covered.

Points to watch

1. Are you covered abroad - some include Europe, others are world wide. Some have limits on time away from the UK.

2. If you use your photo equipment on any form of professional basis then your home insurance probably won't provide cover and you will need to go to a specialist insurer as referred to above.

3. Do check this out in detail with your current insurer or broker.

Hope that helps

Take your point Dan - but I wouldn't get too close to a jumping spider anyway!!

I took some close ups of beetles a while ago - they had shiny/reflective backs - maybe a polariser would have helped here?

Love the effect on some of the pictures. Would the plug-in work with Elements 7?

Yes - agree the comments. These are constructive and not destructive comments and are designed to help.

I've had some 'negative' comments but they've helped me technically or from a composition point of view.

And welcome to the forum.

Cheers
