It happened to me when my camera was about 2 years old. I had it repaired and that has lasted longer now.

Re: Wire-Frame Sports Finder

Looking through a viewfinder you can't see say a car coming from outside the viewfinder so you miss it because you can't react quick enough when it enters the viewfinder. With a wireframe you can see everything that's in your normal vision so you can follow it into and out of the frame.
I have found (at air displays etc. with long lenses) that keeping the other eye open too for general aiming and panning solves this problem.

Also better from a H&S point because you can see everything going on around you: So you don't get hit over the head with umbrellas etc. quite as often.
Keeping both eyes open should help with this too.

So where / how does the wire-frame finder fit on the camera?

Pentax really need to bring out a Wire-Frame Sports Finder to turn them into a fully fledged Sports brand

Something like the Hasselblad one would be fine

In case you didn't spot it, last night (16/03/2017) on BBC 4 there was a good drama, "We'll Take Manhattan" about the relationship between photographer David Bailey and model Jean Shrimpton (played by Karen Gillan) on their ground-breaking shoot for 'Vogue' magazine in New York in 1962.

He used a Pentax S3 which gets a mention.

It will probably be available on iPlayer.

Pre Brexit and pre pound collapse I'd say this body would have been sub £1000, which may have put a differing complexion on things? If stores over here run out of K70's and have to buy more in (Unlikely I know), we'll get a price hike and similarly with the K1.
I see your point about the price, but remember that Chris Nicholls is based in Canada so that aspect probably wouldn't apply.

Personally I think the KP as intended to replace for the K-5II.

I think it is an Avro Lincoln, the successor to the Lancaster.

What is there that justifies it being twice the price of the K-70?
Since the HD 20-40mm zoom is shown in the pics., maybe it is included as part of a package at the quoted price. That lens retails at ~£600, so if it makes up say £480 of the price, then £620 is closer to the rate for a K-5 model replacement.

Yes. The lack of a top plate LCD suggests that it is not a flagship.
There are also fewer dedicated buttons than the K5/K3 series (iso, af, metering). It looks like a baby K1/Kr hybrid to me!
If it is a top end model I would be put off by the lack of interface; I'm not a fan of custom and user functions.
A few observations on the photos:-

1) Since the screen folds up, you would see more on that than a normal top LCD.
2) It is interesting that the movable screen is more like the one on the MX-1 than the K70. Not aimed at those interested in selfies perhaps.
3) The rear thumb-grip area is shaped more like the K-r & K5, which I always felt was more comfortable than those on other varieties.
4) The K1-style knobs on th top might offer more flexibility than the buttond that are 'missing' compared to the K3/K5 etc..
5) If the last picture is of the RH part of the grip, it suggests that a second SD card is held there rather than in the body. So perhaps it is smaller than the K3.

There is a review of the new K70 on DPReview.
