Pentax unique mirrorless ideas.

This is for any one to propose ideas.

An idea for a unique Pentax mirrorless would be something similar to the Sony A99ii but mirrorless, Same dslr body as the K-3 or K-1 same dslr flange distance. APS-C or Full Frame , room for 5 axis ibis and better AF and system buss. The rest such as top lcd screen and button placement should not need changing.

While the other brands are focusing on smaller, more problematic and limited mirrorless bodies (excluding Olympus & Panasonic). Pentax could have a decent slice of the market when it comes to multipurpose cameras. Nikon is bringing out the D850, Canon the 6d Mark ii ,Olympus E-m1 mark ii, Panasonic G85 all multipurpose cameras. Either DSLR or Mirrorless but not the best of both in any of them.

Look out for a K-01, that's the nearest.

The Sigma SD Quattro mirrorless series cameras also have the dslr flange distance. Sony for the A9 also had to extend the e-mount to fix focusing problems.

Trouble was, it didn't prove very popular so further development, perhaps to what you would like, was discontinued. A hybrid viewfinder would be nice then have both worlds available.

That is quite possible.

The word was that there would be no mirror Lessingham the pentax range as the margins are so small it was not worth the effort

And I can see there point as they would not be taking on 2 company's but 7 major players in the mirror less


The ideal camera for the mirror less is undoubtedly the kp

You sound like a 'List Ticker' to me Why don't you try just taking photographs with just one camera and stick with it

As mentioned by the OP, Sony do a FF mirrorless for which there is a Pentax lens adapter available. If mirrorless it has to be then that is a viable route. Quite a few were using Sony Alphas with FF Pentax limited lenses before the K-1 came about; I wonder how many have now given up the Sony to use those lenses on the real thing!
Having tried bridge cameras with electronic viewfinders that isn't the type of thing I'd particularly want to go back to using as what you're looking at happened moments earlier whereas an optical viewfinder gives a real live view! IMHO electronic 'live view' has to be a misnomer. As I suggested earlier, a hybrid option would be fine.

A full frame mirrorles with the k mount. This would ensure the body is large enough to take a large zoom whilst still being lighter.

Am I being stupid here but if you are mirrorless you need a electronic few finder or else how do you see what you are doing

Rear screen, like a K-01 or phone has.

I am one of these endangered species who really likes the K-01 concept. Although I still have my original MX, 1970's retro is just not my thing.

It would be good to see a FF update but with added electronic view finder (remove built in flash). Grip apart, less girth to the body but maybe an aperture control ring incorporated into a distance flange might work. In contrast to the K-1, it would be best to keep it as simple as possible so that it appeals to a different market. (Or to those who, like me Algernon, like to use different cameras for different situations).

Available in yellow, black, white, silver and of course, smurf!

People are already complaining that even with a choice of 3 grips the KP is difficult to grip. You can already get a NEW FF Sony Alpha A7 Body for £799 so what are you waiting for

Pentax really need to bring out a Wire-Frame Sports Finder to turn them into a fully fledged Sports brand

I don't understand what thus does / how it works..

Looking through a viewfinder you can't see say a car coming from outside the viewfinder so you miss it because you can't react quick enough when it enters the viewfinder. With a wireframe you can see everything that's in your normal vision so you can follow it into and out of the frame

Also better from a H&S point because you can see everything going on around you So you don't get hit over the head with umbrellas etc. quite as often
