I thought that the DNG format was generic. If so, wouldn't many of the free tools work with it?
Also, wouldn't any newer version of Silkypix (https://silkypix.isl.co.jp/en/) handle the K-5's files?

I wonder whether a variant of the forthcoming Ricoh 'GR III' with an interchangeable lens adaptor for Pentax lenses and weather sealing would be practical.

It's already been reported on other forums that the KP was intended to replace the K3ii. They have since changed their mind and have started on another APS-C, but it's not known if it will be a KPii or a K3iii released next It won't be ready until at least 2019
I thought that Pentax had stated that the KP wasn't a replacement for the K3 / K3ii. I've always thougt of it as a replacement for the K5ii / K5iis.

This DP Review article shows that Pentax are 3rd in the share of the DSLR category. Albeit with a significantly smaler share than the first two.

Any thoughts on how well Pentax kit would do in such tests?

It is interesting to note that this charger has only 2 contacts, whereas the Pentax chargers and cameras have 4**. Are the extra 2 contacts part of a monitoring circuit or something to prevent over-charging perhaps?

(** Correction. The Pentax MX-1's charger has 3 contacts.)

Artistic licence for me.
I'm not sure why, but it does look better flipped.
I agree it does artistically. Given we read from left to right, the picture flows better because the road leads from left to right (in the flipped image.)
There's a good page of example composition techniques here and the left to right rule is mentioned.

Obviously as a record it's wrong though so how to take this without having to reverse the image? What about walking up the road, turning round and take it looking back perhaps?
It may also be psychological in that the flipped version suggests thst the sun is in the east and that it is early morning, so there may be the expectation of a sunny day to come.

If you think of the KP as a lighter (703g) replacement for the K-5 series (740g) it may make more sense. The K-5s were of a similar price when launched, but it came down steadily. I see the KP as sitting between the K-70 and the expected replacement for the K-3ii.

Whilst I'd like my cameras to be lighter, I'm not sure that the trade off of 170 shots of battery life vs. k-3 (or 590 shots vs. the K-5) for a reduction of 35g was a good one if you have to carry a spare battery (or an extra spare) as a consequence.

Can someone post the weights of the L109 and L190 batteries for comparison?
