Ok, so Dunstanburgh and Bamburgh castles are done to death photographically - but for me that doesn’t detract from the quality of this set. Superb skies, great light, great perspectives. Having said all that, my pick is Craster harbour, which I’ve always found hard to make look attractive, but looks really good here. Thanks for posting these!

Lovely, especially the waterfalls and Barmouth. Hope I can manage a few as good on my trip there in October!

Thank you, all, for commenting. I'm glad you like the set. There's something about coastal sunsets which always appeals, isn't there? The shimmering light on the water, the warmth of the fading light on the land and the silhouettes of the hills and mountains in the distance - fabulous!

Great holiday recently in West Cork with far too many images to process. This set almost didn't happen as we found a spot with gorgeous views across the Kenmare River but several times were on the verge of moving on because it looked like the sunset wasn't going to happen (photogenically, of course!) Glad we stuck it out - this was the best one we saw in three weeks. Hope you like it.

What a lovely set of images! Interesting subjects and commentary, super clarity and gorgeous creamy bokeh throughout and, presumably, all on your doorstep, so to speak. Really, really nice to see!

Thank you all for your comments. The natural highs and lows in the landscape are one of the things that make this part of the world interesting to me. (Another is the contrast emphasised by the close proximity of industrial, agricultural, livestock and residential land in comparative harmony.)

Even though I have lived here most of my life, it's only since getting more interested in photography that I've seen how these highs and lows can impact on images in different ways, particularly by showing the layers pointed out by Bill and Mike which add depth to the shot.

Nigel, the phrase "perspective compression" was not one I was previously familiar with (though I've now read up a bit about it). When you say "Probably this sort of image is stronger when ....", did you mean "The image would be stronger IF ....." or "The image is stronger BECAUSE ...."?

Another lovely evening with gorgeous warm light, so here are a few views of fields (and old mills) in the Colne Valley, near where I live. All comments welcome. K-3 and first outing with newly acquired DA* 50-135mm

I particularly like the ones with patches of sunlight contrasting with shadows. Not always easy to make canal shots as attractive as these!

Thanks for commenting. Lenny and Raza.
I think I know what you mean, Lenny - simplicity is something that appeals to me more and more these days. A bit ironic that we should use such complicated, high-tech devices to show it!

Thank you all for commenting. I'm happy to be corrected, but I think the first 6 are barley - I'm no expert on crops, either in fields or in photos! They are "growing on me", though. I must go back later in the year before harvest time. Apologies for the awful puns!

No, John, I wasn't running the marathon! I once did a half-marathon many years ago when I was much younger and fitter and that was quite enough! The Huddersfield marathon apparently has quite a reputation for being one of the toughest in the country, given the many ups and downs over a very hilly course. I was happy to stay more or less in the same spot for a couple of hours!
