Ouch.

I think you may mean "much criticised". "Maligned" is only appropriate if the statement was malicious and unfounded.
I stand, or rather in my case sit, corrected It's a long time since I passed my 'O' Level (and that dates me doesn't it) English.

I think I had come to the same conclusion about losing the images. Before I tried reformatting the card I had gone to the much maligned Jessops and they had managed to get a good percentage off, but they could not get them all.

I will now try to get it replaced - BTW (I'm learning the jargon) it's a "MyMemory" 1gb High Speed card. I don't think I'll be buying another one again.

Off topic - may I say what an amazing forum this is for expertise and good humour. It's quite addictive. I'm glad I joined.

Thanks

Hi,

I'm glad to see this topic revisited as this was the subject of my first ever posting.
However, I've just run both ZAR and R-Undelete with very little success ZAR only recovers 9 images out of 270+ and R-Undelete recovers almost all but will only preview the first one or three.
When I insert the card in the camera, a DL2, I get memory card failure.

So please.

Thanks to everybody for their suggestions.

I think I'll have to save more of my pennies to get one of the Sigma lenses or possibly the Tamron. And I'll have to be more careful when changing the lenses I have to keep the sensor clean.

I have a question to ask of all you lucky people with your myriad of lenses - How do you keep your sensor clean when you change your lenses?

Also, I am considering replacing my DL2 kit lens and a Sigma 75-300 APO with one lens. I have seen a Sigma 18-200 when I have done a search through google and a Sigma 18-125. Can you please advice as to their relative merits. Yet another question - a lot of adverts show lenses with a hood attached, is it advisable to have it on?

Thanks for your patience.

What great shot's.

I'm no expert and I wish I could get as good shots as these. However do I detect a slight green tinge? Is it my monitor or is the cheese starting to go rotten.

Definitely no criticism intended.

Do Tecno still have shops? I wonder if there any "Up North". I 'll have to google them to find out.

If anybody is interested - I have just "googled" Sandisk UltraII and from the Sandisk site come the following figures

Minimum of 10MB/second** sequential read speed for ultra-fast image viewing and data transfer
Minimum 9MB/second** sequential write speed lets you capture large image files faster.

By the way I was beginning to think that I was the only one who did not have a K10D and still using an *ist DL2 (with which I am very happy)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have just done a quick test

Set camera to manual, 250th shutter speed continuous drive, RAW mode.

Time to fire and record a 3 frame burst (that is, time from first pressing the button to orange write light going out)

Old slow card: 16 seconds
New 80x card: 11 seconds

Time to fire 10 frames

Old card: 48 seconds
new card: 28 seconds
How did you get these times?

Regards

In case I don't write soon - Happy Christmas and I hope Santa is kind to you all.
