Very poignant and touching. The one of the headless doll looks like a victim of some violent war. (Aren't all wars violent??)

Well done.

Oh Howard...to see Cwm Idwal again... with that lovely sky.

Nice scan. Did you climb up through the Devil's Kitchen or just walk around the lake?

Regards,

Andrew
Thanks Andrew. We walked up to the top and looked into "Devil's Kitchen" then back round the lake. We had our then 8yr old son with us and we weren't really geared up to go further. I wish I could do it now but my knees would not take it. Ah well, fond memories. I'd actually forgotten I had this and one or two others.

and one taken about 18 years ago of Llyn Idwal with either ME Super or P30N. Found whilst searching for something else and scanned from print.

My manners are slipping, I don't think I've thanked all those who commented on the "Blue Tinge" thread - thanks.

Comments and Critique please.

Thanks all for your interest and replies.

Yep, I can see it too so it isn't just your monitor!

I'm not really sure what's causing it - I have had similar effects caused by haze, and also when there's a lot of snow about which upset the auto white balance. I would suggest that it's a white balance problem assuming that the weather was clear when you took the photo.
Pleased it's not my monitor nor my eyes! The weather was clear and sunny.

Like other said, white balance seems a likely suspect.

Were there any filters on the lens?
None at all.

I would say WB was it on auto??

camera setting would help what program was it set to ??

K10D set to AWB, Av, f16 and ISO400 and JPG. It's been cropped a bit and sharpened but not excessively. I've got a raw file but my trial version of Silkypix has expired so can't try things out. Strangely I've not noticed it before.

I took this on Tuesday morning at approx 10:30 in good light. On my monitor and to my eyes there is a blue cast to it. Does anybody have any idea what mmay have caused it? Taken with a 18-55 Mk1. Is it the lens, is it the light or as is probably the case is it me? I've tried to get rid of it but to no avail.

Any advice greatfully received and please feel free to experiment if you so wish.

Thanks Gwyn for that bit of info. I would imagine that there was nothing quite like a Welsh ladies tea party!!!

I don't suppose Clarky is excluded if he has such a thing as Welsh teapot handy or could borrow one, I know there are lots of Welsh immigrants down under, my son currently being one but he hasn't got a teapot.

Hi Huw,

Considerably better, I like it now. I'm glad I'm not the only who forgets to do things I should.

But your location's down as Cheshire, and in my 'Rare Welsh teapot in situ' competition the latter would have to mean Wales itself. So I'm afraid I'd have to disqualify this blatant attempt at circumventing clearly stated guidelines!

BTW, I didn't realise Sarah Palin had Welsh ancestry!
I've declared this little bit of Cheshire to be in Wales and have got the Welsh Dragon flag flying high outside!!!. Perhaps the other Welsh lads and lasses can stick to the rules. I'm afraid I don't undertand the Sarah Palin comment

Simple answer - No Should it???

BTW I'm intrigued by your login name - especially the "mawr" bit.

Hi Howard, hope you don't mind I had a little play with your lovely (second) image
I've given it a little bit of distortion to bring the right hand side of the image up, tiny bit of graduation in the sky and removed the blown cloud and rock as Kris mentioned. What do you think?
By the way just say the word and I'll remove it if it's an intrusion.

Hi Huw,

Don't mind at all and no need to remove it. However, I must say I prefer my second attempt, on my screen the big white house in the centre, Gwynfa, is blurry and so are the rocks in the LH corner. I do agree with the removal of the little bit of rock on the bottom right.

Pleased you like my original.

"Am looking forward to the next theme probably along the lines of 'Rare welsh teapots in situ' or 'Arab-Israeli harmony'. " Here is a welsh teapot, sorry I don't know how rare but definitely in situ on our mantel piece.
