Yes, the Nikkors do focus to infinity on a K body.
The Nikon mount has a larger registration distance by about 1mm

Does this mean that infinity focus on a nikkr lens on a pentax body is achieved before the focus barrel actually reaches what would be infinity if the lens was on nikon?
So presumably if it was the other way around you wouldn't be able to infinity focus a pentax lens on a nikon body ( if it were possible top mount it )
It makes sense becuase if you insert a macro tube you make a larger registration distance and you cannot focus to infinity. Correct?
This is also interesting.

Does one type give better image quality than the other?
For the sake of convenience and compatability stick to the A series, but if a really nice M comes around at a good price (and you're happy to work fully manually) then you won't be losing out in terms of image quality.

If you're after a set of tilt/shift bellows that could be adapted to purpose then I'm selling something on eBay at the mo that could do the trick...

I often find the f/3.5 models are just as good as the faster lenses but are lighter and more compact. It also happens to be a nice focal length on digital.
