Maybe I'd change my mind if I tried one. But £8k better?
It is awesome - if you try one I can guarantee you *will* want one. Worth £8k though? Trickier to say, but if I had that sort of money laying around then I'd buy one.

The Vivitar lens codes are only valid up to a certain point (mid 1980's I think), after that there was no consistency in the numbering and no way of knowing who made which lens unfortunately.

The only thing you can say with any degree of certainty is that the lens wasn't manufactured by Vivitar themselves, as they've never had any manufacturing facility that I'm aware of.

...Why would Pentax omit this information?
Because in order to stay in business they want you to buy new lenses rather than old ones (on which they receive no cut).

Would you pay £2700 for an F1.0 ? I certainly wouldn't!!
Personally no, but compared to what Leica want for a similarly spec'd Noctilux that sounds like a bargain!

Does she need a zoom? If not then the Ricoh GR-D has an excellent accessory finder that slips in the hotshoe.

There's a camera I'd like to try. I have a feeling though it would be too heavy for me - that's why my Linhof went via eBay.

In all my time on this forum I think that's probably the first I've even seen mention of an *ist - how does it compare to the other film bodies and the *istD?
