Promaster is a US-based distributer who (as far as I know) don't actually manufacture anything but import and re-badge other companies' products. Their lines are sold in North American markets only and looking at their website (www.promaster.com) all the lenses on there look rather familiar.

I'd say the 18-200 on there is almost certainly a Tamron (it looks too similar to the "real thing" to be anything else) in which case I'd expect it to be a solid if unspectacular performer. You can find an in-depth test of the Tamron version (albeit attached to a Canon) on Photozone: link

I'd agree with Hardgravity - try it out first and see how you get on with it before handing over your money.

I tend to carry primes so on an average day's shoot probably 5+ times. Sometimes I just go out with one lens if I don't want to carry the kit bag (usually the FA43) but if I take several lenses with me then I always feel the need to make them pay their way.

I do get dust on the sensor almost daily but I give it a blow over with a Rocket Blower when I get home and tend not to worry too much about it. If its really obvious on a picture I want to use then I clone it out in Photoshop.

The 12-24 is useable on film from 18-24 without vignetting and is a lovely lens. Don't forget though there's no aperture ring so on your Super A you won't be able to use Manual or Aperture Priority modes, just Shutter Priority and Program. Depending on your own shooting style that may or may not be a problem...

I use an old version of Photoshop (v5) which pre-dates the digicam revolution. Hence it knows nothing of metadata and trashes all of it whether "saved for web" or just simply "saved" in the normal way. Oh well, it's still not enough of an annoyance to tempt me into upgrading...

Hefty1, i'm afraid to say that it is a 1/24 Fujimi model car that I built and photographed. Its on my Flickr site page 9 I think.
Fair enough and hats off to you for building a model that had me fooled - even at avatar size!

Sorry for disrupting the thread but everyone probably knows by now how excited I get by cars...

Slightly OT but is that your car in your avatar? 69 Isuzu Bellet GT-R isn't it?
