I happen to have one of these in the original box with paperwork; the date on the rear of the manual says: Copyright Asahi Optical Co., Ltd 1989

So I reckon that makes the Zoom 90 twenty years old.

Would one of these be an investment for the future??
A good question, especially as we often see older limited editions fetching large sums on eBay etc (think of the LX titanium here). Unfortunately, I don't think the K-m will ever attain "legendary" status, even though it's a very good camera, hence the limited editions of white and green are unlikely to be worth vastly more than the standard examples in years to come (think here of the black ME Super).

Also, to be a true "investment" you really need to buy the camera and never take it out of its box as any useage will immediately impact on future collectors' values.

Overall I think the white K-m probably isn't a sound way of future-proofing your cash, but I do think it looks kinda funky and if I was buying a K-m anyway (to use) then I'd probably rather have the white one.

I hadn't heard of this either but looking on the web shows the closest to me is London and I won't have time to get down there and back this weekend. Maybe next year if I've got a bit more notice

Thanks for the reassurance. I thought that the word 'clamp' would lock the focus.
I shall now get out and give it a good workout with confidence!
It locks it to the extent that if you're doing copystand work you can apply the clamp and know that the focus won't "creep" under the weight of the front element, however, the force used is more like the brakes on a bike - enough to stop the wheel spinning but in a progressive fashion (you wouldn't want an instant stop or you'd fly over the handlebars).

Not sure if that's a good analogy or not but I know what I meant

If you all want to go to Nikon that is your choice. Go and join Nikonians.org and stop moaning about Pentax here and do it there where you will be met with sympathy for ever having been so stupid as to think Pentax was worth owning in the first place. Leave those of us who enjoy our Pentax cameras and the safe haven from know-it-alls and camera snobs that is Pentax User alone.
The shining light of sanity in an otherwise thoroughly depressing thread. Well said Gwyn!

Does the Sugden A21a Series Two count as a fine example of: "Cottage Hifi" ?? I love the simplicity of this system. And the acoustic picture it provides. Waaaayy of topic, I know

I've never had the chance to use a Sugden but yes it certainly counts!
