Why not get one from http://www.focusingscreen.com? I got one for my K20D and am planning to get one each for my K7 & K-x. The screen model will be the K3 with a 45 degree split screen in the centre.

The KX sensor shake problem is widespread - a recent poll on another site indicated that 34% users had the problem anywhere between 1/125 and 1/60 sec.

I thought batteries might be implicated but having tested freshly charged batteries, I still have the problem.

It is obviously more visible with a telephoto lens and is a damned nuisance as I either forget that I'm using 1/60 (my specific troublesome speed) or the camera selects 1/60 for my choice of aperture and ISO.

Pentax is in denial mode and my next camera will not be a Pentax - their ridiculous head in the sand attitude is shameful. I have a VPN problem on the K10 that ruins any low light image on that camera and now this bug (and don't get me started on the battery meter that reads empty well before the batteries are depleted).

Can't this company produce a 100% reliable product?
Have you upgraded the firmware?

I am using a couple of Remotes from my old Hewlett-Packard Digicams from 1998 (618 & 912). Pentax used to make for HP and the remotes were kept in storage until I found them recently and the batteries still work (Amazing!).

Similar to the Pentax Remote F in desing.

Coming from a K20D to a K7, I would say that the K7' AF is very much faster than the K20D's. AS i use the DA*16-50mm F2.8 as my main work lens.

Hi Errol,

The K100D is about 2 years older than the K20D and its features are so much better. Its sensor is CMOS compared to the K100D's CCD. THe K20D runs on a lithium battery and it can last for almost 1500 frames on my usage (without flash).

Price wise I am no help as I am from Singapore but a 2nd hand K20D here would set one back about SGD$900.00

A brand new one is now not found anymore but a few months ago it was selling for SGD$1050 for body only.

thank you all for your great opinions and advices. Now i know why you guys go with pentax, i especially like the lightweight-ness and compatibilty with older lenses.

now i have something to say back to my friend
For me, the reason why I go with Pentax is because I started out with a K-mount camera called Cosina and slowly moved to a Chinon and then ended up with a Pentax PZ/Z-20 AF SLR. Since I have lenses from those days, I remained with Pentax and I find the colours more vibrant than the C and N cameras.

Where are you actually based ?

Let's face it , we Pentax users are biased in favour of out beloved Pentax cameras , lenses etc BUT if you are somewhere where they are exceedingly difficult to find [ thus sending you to Ebay ] then you must also consider after sales service etc etc .

It's no good having the best camera on this planet if you can't get any repairs done [ even though it should be a long time before you need something BUT accidents can happen at any time ]

I may seem to be disloyal here - but I think we have to be practical in our advice.

Me --- I love my K-x - it's relatively small so fits my small hands , it's reasonably light - so suits someone with hand problems like me , has built in image stabilisation [ fantastic for someone with reduced sensitivity in their hands and can have hand shake ]
i lived in indonesia.

yes that could be a problem, since i only search the internet. and maybe tomorrow im going to go to an electronic shop and asked there about the after sales service they could provide.
If I remember correctly, thre is a Pentax office/agent in Indonesia too . . .

Pentax colours are more vibrant than N's . . . .

Get the K-x . . .

I moved from the K10D to the K20D to the K7 and now I too have a white K-x.

i can use lenses from the early 70s to today. Ask your N friend if he can do that. Chances are his reply will be "no".

It is so excellent that I, a K7 user, succumbed to its beauty when I brought a friend to buy the red coloured version and I got the white. . .
