Depends what lens you use on it.
I have found that it is quite sluggish in general with the subject coming towards you. If you are using the DA*60-250 then you will get more shots when manually focusing on fast moving objects than using AF. This is especially the case when the object is moving towards you.

NSantos, Thank you for the comments on my web site, all the images have been shot with a Pentax, varies from the Ist'd to a K10D and the last few with a K7.
I have used the Sigi 100 - 300 F4 with a 2x Conv, does work although you need a decent amount of light to avoid camera shake, have done some test shots at 60th Sec not pin sharp but acceptable.

Coming from a K20D to a K7, I would say that the K7' AF is very much faster than the K20D's. AS i use the DA*16-50mm F2.8 as my main work lens.
K1/K3, DA*16-50mm F2.8, FA 31mm F1.8, FA43mm F1.9 Limited, FA77mm F1.8 Limited, SMC Pentax K 85mm F1.8, DA18-135mm F3.5-5.6, FA*28-70mm F1.8, FA*200mm F1.8

I'd agree with Pentaxanne, I went from a K20D to a K-7 and in most circumstances the autofocus is slightly faster, certainly on screw drive lenses.
However in my experience SDM was not much changed (i.e. a bit pedestrian).
yep i 2nd that.

The K7 is also the only Pentax with an extra sensor for the AF that adjust the AF to the type/colour of light so that it is more accurate.
And also you can adjust the AF of 20 lenses (right?) if one front or back focus.
