I tried to use my I10 recently and it would not show any sign of life when switched on. The battery charger light blinked as you described when I inserted the battery but went steady after a while. I put it down to the battery having no power to communicate with the charger until it's charged a bit. I've had no trouble since.
That's what I'll think I'll do. Continue using it as normal and see if it re-occurs.

Yesterday morning I put the battery on charge and the LED started blinking instead of lighting constantly. I tried removing and reinserting it, with the same result each time. The manual tells me it means the battery needs to be replaced.
I tried it back in the camera and it seemed to have no power at all. Fortunately SRS had originally supplied a spare aftermarket battery with the body, and that saw me through the day.
Last night I dug out the receipt and was all set to go to SRS today for a battery swap when I thought I'd try it one last time. And this time it charged as normal.
Has anyone else had this on a K-5/K-5ii/K-5iis? Is it just one of those things that happens with a K-5 charger every now and then? Or is it indeed the sign I have a bad battery?
The only thing I can think of that I did abnormally the night before the problem was to absent-mindedly leave the SD card door open overnight, with the card itself in my pc's card reader. The camera was powered down. I replaced the card before I removed the battery in the morning. Could that somehow have caused a deep discharge?

I don't know if this thread is supposed to cover repairers. But can I recommend A.M. Technical Services in Middlesex link Just had an old Adaptall lens done by them. Fast turn round and, I think, a reasonable cost.

For those who want to optimise results in the digital world, and are willing to pay the somewhat heavy price of having every photograph looking totally overexposed until post processed, the best way is to shoot in raw and overexpose every shot as much as possible without burning out highlights. Maximum image information with minimum noise is then available for use.
I didn't manage to get to the recycling centre last weekend, but I bought another K10D yesterday. So I have a use for this battery again!

Dirty contacts perhaps?
Possibly I suppose. But only 3 months/3,000 activations old and the contacts look like new.
