Be careful about buying from Park Cameras. Their warranty policy is not as good as other Pentax dealers and it is rather unclear. Their customer service is basically ambivalent when things go wrong. I thought they were one of the better dealers but they are not.

SRS offer a much superior service which puts the customer first.

Why do only warranty the Pentax Q in the UK for one year only when you offer two years in Europe? Are UK customers second rate?

Why do some Pro Dealers offer lesser warranties on non-DSLR products then regular dealers. What good is a Pro Dealer when this is the case?

Yours.

Thanks for all the advice, all taken on board and researched.

I think I will first test print a few images across the recommended printers at small sizes to see how they look before getting one printed large and framed. I'm a bit lost with the profiles and whatnot and it doesn't help being colourblind, so I need to experiment a bit.

That already happened.

I like 16:9 and use it for many of my images. However, it does not seem to be a standard print ratio. It is worth bearing the intended destination of an image in mind when processing and cropping.

I didn't already know that since I have not yet tried a butchered zooom,

Good point on the lighting is colour in the backgound. But the lighting is not diffuse enough in 1,3 &4.

You are listening though to a complete amateur in this field.

You have the magnification but the detail is just not there. The Nikkor and a steady hand will provide that.

That will make things a whole lot easier, the depth of field will be a lot more too. Zoom has been ordered.

It's really the working distance that I find more
difficult and extra cm would make a big difference. Could you please measure for me the distance using the butchered zoom.

Wide open on the reversed lens - if you stop it down then you can't see much anyway. Minimum aperture on the normal lens as long as the light allows. Then set the focus on the normal lens to the point where it stops vignetting. For the DFA100macro this was at 35cm.
