The DA12-24 is really the only zoom that is essential to me. I hardly ever use it at f4 so I don't need faster. I'd need a couple of primes to give me similar coverage and I'd probably be forever swapping them in the field.

It's a very good lens. My only hesitation in investing in one would be that there is a new DA wide zoom on the lens roadmap, maybe this year, maybe next. It looks like it will cover the same range, more or less. So one might expect that it will be WR, which would be more than handy.

I like the idea of the last one but it is a bit tight and telephoto looking for me. I think it would be wonderful with the turbines against a more expansive whitescape, but as it stands the first is the one for me.

That's a nice thing to say.

I have both, the M50f1.7 and K55f1.8.

They are both very good lenses and they are both bargains. The K goes on the camera, the M stays in the cupboard.

Very, very, very nice.

I'd never even thought to try photographing them, I thought it was a microscope job.

The nice thing is they are all different, so you can go on forever, or at least until the snow melts.

And I nearly forgot, nice image.

Boring .. they are just sitting there not doing anything.
It's certainly true that after a while you begin to feel you have seen the pictures before.

I think the composition is really excellent. But the image doesn't really work for me either. The two problems for me are the sky and the brightness of the reflection. Was a grad perhaps used on the sky and so the reflected sky much brighter?

The sky is not a good b&w sky. The tonal range in the sky doesn't contrast enough with the mountains and they don't stand out enough. The tones in the reflected sky adjacent to the ice match the tones of the ice so the same happens in the midground. The bright tones in the reflection are clipped and draw the into the centre of the image. So I think that conspires against the composition. I think the overall effect could be improved with some judicious dodging/burning and also reducing/increasing detail in some areas to boost contrast between the elements of the scene. It all boils down to a bit of luck with the sky and I agree that colourmight look better.
