The tatto artist is the choice of these for me.

It's good to know that this clearly quite common problem is not just restricted to Pentax cameras.

I thought I would set out some valuable information on how to solve this unusual problem should anyone else encounter it.

Out on my dog/photo walk today I suddenly noticed that the information displayed in the viewfinder had disappeared. It was snowy and so very bright but I hadn't noticed this issue before. So I turned the camera off and on but it didn't come back. I really have not much idea what most of the menu items on the camera do so I spent ages scrolling through looking for the one where I had inadvertently turned the display off. I couldn't find anything. I went into a heavily wooded spot where it was much darker and I could just make out the information. So I spent ages again looking through for the option to adjust the brightness. Couldn't find it. Changed to a full battery, no difference. There was clearly an issue with the camera. The possibilities were that there was a faulty LCDdisplaycontrolunitpanelthingy or that the cold weather had affected the camera. On returning home I googled a bit but I couldn't find any other similar cases. Clearly the first thing that would be tried on repair would be a reinstall of the firmware, so I might as well try it myself first. With everything prepared for a firmware update I thought I'd check one last time. Magic, the display had returned to its former brightness. Shortly after I realised that my reactolite glasses had also returned to their clear state.

It caught my attention. I like it. Often really expansive shots can just look a bit nothing but this has really good depth, there is interest throughout the scene. The sky is good and I like the way we are touching the cloud base on the right hand side, it enhances the sense of height. I agree with Andrew too.

Having pondered for a while I'm sure it is skew. There are no obvious foreground giveaways but the distant cloud base and horizon looks wrong with a pronounced left to right lean.

Comments and full results are now posted.

My apologies for the delay, it's always a bit unsatisfying to get the results before the comments. I was rather unprepared for this as I thought last week's entry was a no hoper (that was the intention) and I'd rather delay a little than do a rush job.

Patagonia is an extraordinary place and you could have once in a lifetime photo opportunities. The DA*16-50 is worthy of such landscapes. Having thought about it what I would do in your boots is to buy a secondhand DA*60-250 or and then sell it on return.

Good point on the screen. Mine is protected with a screen protector. Not just for more rugged handling but as a general safeguard. I've scratched my K5 screen a bit but I have the viewfinder.

The handling of the Q is great. Sometimes I accidentally press the wrong button if I'm sneaking a shot or nudge the dial around in pocket, but you soon learn to check. Having an EV dial makes a huge difference to me and that's something the RX100 lacks. Good to see the MX1 has it. One of the biggest pluses of the Q is metering accuracy which I think easily outperforms the K5, which is key for quickly grabbed shots.

Before you do that why not post a RAW file for members to have a look and and try with different raw converters. I see it it too when I zoom in on the LCD screen sometimes and I have done so with previous different cameras, all of them I think. Once it goes through the raw converter it disappears.
