So you 'site veterans' don't all have a bus pass yet then?
actually, I have a fairly quick motorcycle.
According to Einstien's theory, the faster an object moves towards the speed of light, the slower time goes...
so I keep holding the throttle wide open, hoping to live longer...

So give me my veterans pension, and get the @#$%!!! outa my way!

The ist ds2 is a great camera.
glass prism.
compatible (with a few minor niggles) with old pentax ttl flashes.
I have two k10's and still use the ds2 every week!

go manual. get the flash off the camera.
decide whether your flash is to be key, or fill, (you're suggesting fill)
decide on exposure for ambient light, then dial in your flash.
I use a light meter, but with digital, you can just test, check, re-test till you get it right.

also set camera to manual, take a reading off a greycard, THEN turn on your flash (in hs mode if need be, and let the camera do it's ting, adding exposure comp if needed.

ps...buy Matmattics flash user guide.

there was this cute little windmill motel we stayed at one time...in Canmore if I recall....
Canmore is definately cheaper than Banff.
and I'll second what 'spider said, Pentaxian, getting into an area like Quebec with somebody that understands the language, the culture, and photography is definately worth a few bucks in my opinion!

While in Banff, get out your hiking boots and follow one of the trails from downtown Banff up to the mountianside and get a photo or two of the town... And the banff springs hotel (where Kubric filmed the Shining)... been a while since I've been there...
