It's perhaps a poisoned chalice posting holiday pics in the wake of marklj's superb thread, but here are a few from a recent short break in and around Alicante...

Congrats to all (especially Aliengrove and the podium/hc placings) and of course thanks to Northgrain for the challenge - a really varied set of quality entries!

Two cracking sets overall, here's hoping all our 'holiday snaps' get a boost now you've raised the bar...

Good set this, the rooster tails really add some extra dynamicism. Nice to see the 'slow' 55-300 churning out such results, all credit to you. Couple of brave (or cash-strapped) little cherubs out on slicks too

Just faffing around with the Optio W90 on a short break last week - pic credit actually goes to SWMBO with some PP by me - if only I could have kept my darn eyes open!

Optio W90
1/1500 @ f4.2, ISO 160, flash fired. Full exif in file.

NB: It was either this pic or a hoary old take on the subject.

Complete coincidence, but I kicked off my own 'Project 35' last week using the DA35 Macro and FA35/2.

Hadn't considered attempting much portraiture but after seeing this set I'll give it some thought - a few real crackers in here, despite being out of your comfort zone! Thanks for sharing.

Was in there a few weeks ago on a quiet midweek day looking at the Sigma 8-16 they had at an attractive price. The shop worker implied that they were dropping new Pentax/Pentax fit products and even hinted I might think about doing the same if I hadn't already bought into the system. There were also comments about the item in question 'only being a Sigma lens'

My other half was also looking at spending decent money on a new photo backpack but that attitude (perhaps the individual's attitude rather than company policy?) convinced us not to spend any money with them.

Lovely size, well-stocked shop, some very nice used stuff in there, but I left unimpressed by the treatment of two keen photographers ready to part with disposable income - regardless of badge.

Congrats to all entrants, especially the winner and podium places and thanks to Glyn for judging. Glad I didn't have to make the call!

Thanks everyone - rushed the pp on these and may revisit at some point, just tried to show a variety of images from the event. I have loads more but won't get a chance to process any this week. Make all the rain jokes you like, for the grey skies and rain were a real boon - they kept the contrast (and pace of the car!) under control.

@Pentaxophile - the idea for shot 3 came when taking shot 2 so I stood my ground and hoped Jensen would walk to the car rather than it be moved to him. He did (absolutely surrounded by press/tv) but luckily none of them had thought of this angle or stood in the way (which they did for much of the event :roll

Frankie - Most of the big Currys/PC World combo stores I've had the misfortune to visit in the last six months have had at least a K7 in. Might be one of those nearer than any Pentax Pro Centres to try one for size?

If you do like it, remember to buy one from a decent shop
