Thanks for your kind comments.

Algernon - the lighting was okay but the light levels were pretty low, I've just checked and using TAV mode the conponent images were 1/50 @ f3.5, ISO2500-6400.

Frankie - If I remember rightly that central object is a whale skull or similar. Impressive at some angles, just not this one!

Manchester Museum opened its doors for an after hours, photographer-centric event on Saturday. Whilst I haven't been through the set yet, I was itching to see if this handheld pano with the DA21 turned out okay.

For a quick effort with Microsoft ICE I think the answer is 'pretty much'.

Headed into the forest yesterday to get some practice on moving targets. Most of these are a little 'static' but the cloudy weather meant changeable light at times - I struggled with that fine line between sharp and blurry so erred on the side of caution.

On closer inspection these two are wielding Pentaxes, anyone on here?

And a cheeky one with the fisheye on the way out...

I've done a couple of small music gigs lately and have really struggled at times with loss of detail, oversaturation and clipping channels. Never even thought about LED lighting being the issue...

Example:

There's almost no detail in the skin and those blue lights on the background sign look hideous. The same happened with night shots of some coloured fountains on my last holiday - again especially in the blue channel - all the while I've been blaming cerveza as I know the K5 is up to the job

Thanks for giving me some food for thought (and a slim hope I'm not completely rubbish!)

Pretty close to my own motherland and one of the places I cut my DSLR teeth. Cracking set of pics with the first few 50-135 shots my favourite.

Re: K-5 jamming - only happened to me twice and only using a cheap grip in AF-C w/continuous shooting. No probs since ditching the cheap grip.

A colleague's son races mx and I was invited along for their last meeting of the year. In the end he didn't compete so I had a relaxing day experimenting and getting some practice in...

Agree with the general consensus, #1 is the more pleasing image. #2 is a bit too cartoony and though the mono tones it down a bit, it remains too light in the wall and especially foliage.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, you're in danger of having to suffer a second set!

Dead right Matt, just been back to look at the full size version and it's a dust bunny. I'll fix this at some point, ta very much.

Certainly worth a try at a square crop, though you may not have quite enough foreground to make it work convincingly. If you go back, be sure to grab a little more of the foreground - the worst that can happen is you end up cropping it out anyway.

A portrait version may also work - see my cack-handed, half asleep effort below. (Let me know if this isn't appropriate and I'll remove it)

At the very least, don't discard this until you've tried a few ideas!
