#4 really captures the essence of the event.

Stumbled across this work-in-progress today (20 Aug) so thought I'd get the ball rolling.

Aliengrove – Cathedral: Though I don’t agree with organised religion it has created some stunning architecture, this being no exception. The mono conversion is well done with highlights and shadows deftly handled, though for me the image misses a trick - I find the intricately detailed, lighter square in the lower centre to be the most powerful element and it would have been excellent to see this central in the image with the four wings of the cathedral branching off. Having never been here I do appreciate that this perspective may not be possible.
Frogherder – So That’s What’s Inside: An image to document one of our technological relics, my guess is either a Walkman or tape based Dictaphone - no doubt the construction methods as well as some of the components are considered hideously outdated. I can’t help thinking this could be more interesting as an abstract of the 'guts' of the thing rather than an overall view. F22 isn't the best way to go on aps-c either, thanks to diffraction.
Dougf8 – Untitled: This is along the ‘abstract’ lines mentioned in my comment above. Shot at a more sensible f16 and showing good detail and texture, it’s a fine way to make use of the broken old SD cards we probably all have lying around. My only suggestion would be to use a more complimentary background – something with no texture, perhaps a solid block of contrasting colour.
GlynM – Loft Space: Good use of the wide angle to make the most of a confined space, some strong geometry and plenty of elements for the eye to roam around and take in. It’s also a reminder of the detritus we in the western world tend to collect – I know my loft isn’t quite this tidy! Whilst not an ‘impact’ image (i.e. you probably wouldn’t hang it on the wall) it’s also hard to fault.
Northgrain – Columns: Another stunning building - the textures and colours are wonderful and you’ve clearly nailed the exposure for this interior. The open doors at the far end draw the viewer in and the central composition works very well. I’d probably be willing to sacrifice the pedestal of the nearest columns and a strip of that red carpet to see the verticals corrected.
Mecrox – Worcester College Chapel: Lovely bold gobs of detail, colour and geometry in this – the kind of thing I’d have liked to see aliengrove make a tad more of in his shot. A little confused that the aperture is reported as both f11 and f6.9? Another image that, for me, could do with a touch of ‘squaring up’ to quell my ocd.
DrOrloff – Antique Onions: Bonus point for the most obscure entry! Another strong (and appropriate) mono conversion with a lovely range of tones and textures when one gets the feeling this could easily have turned out a little murky or muddy looking. The square crop also works for me. A fascinating detail of your barn, though one that leaves me wanting to see more.
MarkTaylor – Inside the Outside: Not a serious entry perhaps, but a serious contender. The exaggerated and distorted wide perspective together with moody mono give a slightly detached, apocalyptic feel that leaves me a little unsettled, but in a good way. The expanse of grey to the right has some texture but is a touch overpowering - maybe remedied with a square crop?
Closely matched this time round, no one image jumped out and grabbed me by the eyeballs so I had to build a case for each. In the end I’m going for GlynM for making something so interesting from something so absolutely mundane, closely followed by MarkTaylor and northgrain.
My thanks and congratulations go to all entrants. Over to Glyn!

As for the shape and controls, they're something you'd adapt to. After almost four years with the K10/K20, the newer K-5 body felt alien for a long time. It's second nature again now, the only thing I miss is a dedicated SR on/off switch.
With K-5 prices now under the £800 barrier it's better value than ever, but if you're happy with your existing kit then keep shooting with it - that price is only likely to drop in the meantime.
