See what you think...

Cracking examples indeed from a very capable vintage lens shot by a very capable not so vintage photographer. I own a mint copy of its little brother the Tair 11a which I can't praise enough.

Vintage lenses aren't about sharpness alone, they're about character and history and satisfaction of ownership and most of all the shear joy of using them.

Nope, it's not the lens wot takes nice pictures, it's the photographer.

But the 16-85mm is definitely a very capable lens. Enjoy using it!

Fantastic lens and a gift at that price.

I have the same lens which is also starting to peel. Nowhere near as pronounced as yours though just yet.

I've wondered whether it might be worth trying to carefully peel off the rest, at least then it will look like a uniform smooth finish and far more attractive than a scabby surface. Even so, peeling paint should not diminish its worth or effect its capability in anyway.

I won't be selling mine any time soon and most certainly not at this price. Good luck with your sale - though I feel sure someone will shortly be braking your arm for it.

Now here's something a bit out of the ordinary which you don't often see on ebay or the sales adds.
A 12mm uwa fisheye full frame lens in an m42 mount. Admittedly a tad pricey @ £175 but interesting never-the-less for someone who wishes to experiment or who has a purposeful need for such a quirky lens.

I'm tempted myself just out of curiosity for the unique imagery that it can render but - hey-ho!

I love it when the community helps each other out, not just with pointers to deals like these (Enjoy Nigel ), but the amount of advice that is offered - both in posts on the forum and in PM's. I've asked advice from several members, and been asked questions myself, and it has been so useful
But isn't that the whole pint of a forum. Like minded people coming together to share their work, thoughts and experiences, help, advise and support each other etc, in a friendly civilized atmosphere.

Photography is the beautiful hobby.

Not trying to de-rail your thread, just complement it - and add to the service you're providing to our community
And complement it you did too Lenny. Your spot was an even better deal alright. Both have gone now so someone or two must have also thought they were a good buy. I wonder if it was anyone here?
I might have been tempted by a little silver number with all 3 grips and 12 months warranty [/quote]Lol...
