Just seen this.

It is dark, dark day indeed.

Heartfelt sympathies to all at SRS.

Graham I think your mono harvest images are stunning. That's not saying the colour versions are without merit, I love both but they do evoke different emotions. To me the mono versions unfettered by colour have a timeless quality about them that you don't seem to get with colour. At the same time I love the colour example which appears to have been taken full sun and hard light, denigrated by 'real' photographers but one of my favorite times of day for photography. Although such days of full sun are precious few, to my mind, photo's taken in full sun always bring back happy memories when viewed later on, at least to me a lover of light.
I recall my formative years using colour film and colour slides and thinking why on earth would anyone choose to use black & white film when colour film is available, after all, don't we see the world in colour? It was during a college photography course which I enrolled in where the medium used was b&w film that my eyes were opened to the reality of a new and exciting world that was the magic of the monochrome image.
This reminds me of my mantra about which I frequently beat the drum which is when it comes to photography there is only one one rule and that rule is - there are no rules! In other words, don't restrict your self. Enjoy your photography in your own way and it will become much more enjoyable and rewarding.
Returning to your wonderful harvest images and to contradict myself, if I had one constructive suggestion it would be to show some of the combine photo's in their wider environment to show more documentary context. Just my two cents.

best regards.

PS Perish the thought that I sound like one of Lubbyman's ancient ones.

Excellent news GG. Both very good choices that should serve you well. The G-A5 is slightly more expensive than what I was suggesting but it gives you a greater upgrade path so well worth the extra investment. You can't go wrong with the Dell Super Sharp either.

I hope they provide years of fun for you.

For insomniacs and lovers of loco's.
A fascinating drivers eye view of a journey from Leeds to Carlisle on a lovely sunny day with some interesting and informative commentary. Definitely one for train buffs and northerners familiar with this stretch of line.

Very nice indeed. These things are difficult to keep track of with the eye let alone photograph.

For folks interested in such photography I would recommend a look at Jamie Spensley's youtube channel. He's a young lad who specialises in bug macro photography and I have to say I think his work is phenomenal. Link below if you're interested.....

Anybody else's brains scrambled?
OOOOPS!!! My bad...
NAZ should NAS (Network attached storage)
DAS should be DAS (Direct attached storage)
and I'm sure everyone knows what a hard drive caddy is lol...

Thank you for pointing that out to me before anyone else gets confused.

PS Driving back from Norfolk to deepest Lancashire scrambled my brain and body alike. Road works, accidents and general road chaos. What should be a pleasant journey in reality is hours of frustration. Heading for Berwick on Tweed next Friday for a week, hopefully that will be e better journey.
