I don't know about a review but the K3 seems to have provoked the most positive response from DPreview on announcemnent than any other Pentax DSLR as far as I remember.

I thought it was just so blatantly obvious that I was messing around (see focus on static fast jet parked up at airfield) that the post didn't need a smiley.

Obviously I was wrong.
It took me less than 2 nanoseconds to work out you were messing about Mike

Clearly I missed the pic for some reason. You both have a bit of a streak in you don't you?

I normally find that the people that moan about the K-5 AF just don't know how to use the camera properly. All you have to do is pre-focus on the area where you think the fast jet will be.

Example.

I have just watched it on hearing the news. I am stunned. This is my local patch one mile from where I live. Plus - I took the bluebell pic from the same spot for my local photographic club monthly theme "Spring". And just to rub salt in the wounds I rejected it for lacking impact and have deleted the raw file! If only I had thought of that fish-eye filter. Doh, I told you I was rubbish at landscapes!!

P.S I haven't met Bill on my frequent visits there.

I've tried my hand at interval shooting and turned off the power save button to stop hibernation. I have set the interval to 30 secs (video mode)but after about an hour the battery is depleted. Got through two batteries now. The LCD screen turns off in between frames. Seems a low number of shots (120 ish) to drain the battery. Over a period of time I think I get a lot more than that in normal shooting.
Anyone else found that.

Well two pairs to be precise. Noticed that my Specsavers glasses have Pentax lenses. Should be ok - my eyes don't focus too quickly these days

Hi Cedric, I use a Redsnapper all the time and have used it extensively with the K-5 and Sigma 150-500 combination. I use it with just the standard head and find it very good indeed, it holds the weight without an issue and is very stable. You could always buy the Redsnapper and get a head from elsewhere?

Exactly the same tripod and lens on K30 here unsurprisingly, with the basic pan and tilt head. Very happy with it. Sometimes have to retighten the legs with the Allen key but at least you can.

Compared to Glyn's it looks like a "grey" import.

Hello everyone!

As has been noticed by a few of you already, we are having an Open Day on the 9th October.

There will be something very special to play with (I cannot say any more!!)

As usual, there will be Mark from Pentax in attendance to answer all of your questions and special offers on the day.

We are looking forward to seeing you on the day. I can assure you all, it will be worth it!!

Any questions then please ask, well I say any questions, but I cannot give any more information about potential new product!!

Shame it's not on a Saturday. Oh well, always pop in for an abridged version I suppose!

I agree with David. It would be easy to interpret what Northernmonkey said as accusing him of lying, which you would feel the need to defend yourself against.
John is so right about wrong impressions. I have a nasty habit of deliberately saying the opposite of what I mean for exaggerated effect which seems to get taken literally in forums sometimes!
