That looks amazingly inelegant!

Now the funny highlight below the K3 logo in the pic below makes sense.

Looks a bit more elegant from the front

Is it just me, or does the faux-leather on the body look cheap and nasty - sort of tacky-looking?? It looks like a brick wearing a leather jacket!!

what a wierd shape, I wonder what the reason for that is. Still makes the image less likely to be photoshopped.

Points of interest from my POV on that image

1. The built in flash housing looks larger, or am I imagining it?
2. External mic port on the shoulder, not sure if the K-5 already has this?
3. Looks like a flash PC port on the side? nice to see though no surprise in a top end model.
4. No AF.S / AF.C selection on the main AF dial, and a new multi-function button above the AF selector. The top function looks like AF to me, but I can't make out what the second line says.
you don't have to be mad to post here

but it does help

Looks like "AF Mode" button and "AF MF" switch.
Might the lump be something to do with GPS?

If that's a GPS antenna wouldn't it be pointing at the ground when held in portrait mode? Or doesn't that sort of thing matter any more?

Whatever it is, it had better be important

DSLRs tend to be aesthetically challenged. But, yes, the LH bump doesn't look v organic to the design. I sympathise with the designers to some extent, though. I expect their brief was to keep close to the K7/5 bodyform, yet find somewhere to house the GPS (if that's what it is).

A K-5 body with a small bump turns into an ugly monster? You might be right and it could be a symbol of success - one of the Dragons was renowned for shoulder extensions.

If it's aimed at pro's I don't think looks are going to matter, performance is more important.

I do wish Pentax would do away with the af-s/af-c/mf switch altogether and do it through the quick menu displayed on the rear screen like Canon. It really is so much less fiddly
