Parking at the earlier RPS HQ in Bath was no better. I went for a distinction there in 2011 and managed to leave my car at the B and B which was near the 'Royal,' but God help anyone carrying heavy print cases travelling into the city by car or public transport. I once used park and ride from Cribs Landing in Bristol, or is it Cribbs Quay, but it took ages as the bus went right round the suburbs.

…..and comparisons of the same subject just a few seconds apart.
York on Saturday was bitterly cold, with overcast grey skies and a threat of snow. I went to photograph the ex LMS express loco Duchess of Sutherland bring in a charter train from London.
Picture one here ( already posted in the Gallery section) was taken on my K3 and D FA*70-200 zoom combination rated at 2000 ISO. The light was terrible.
Picture two was taken as the loco was moving out of the station almost immediately after picture one was taken. This time the combo was K30 with 18-55 kit lens rated at 800 ISO.(my favoured DA* 16-50mm lens is suffering from auto focus problems).
I think the little K30 and kit lens measured up pretty well against the considerably more expensive combination.
K3+D FA*70-200.

A replacement DA*50-135, as my existing one is slowly dying with the dreaded SDM failure, despite it having one of the newer replacement SDM motors that apparently don't fail

Hasn't another firm taken over Johnsons and are in business on their behalf? If so it would be cheaper to have the SDM replaced in your existing lens than buying a new one. I'm considering contacting them for the same reason regarding my DA*16-50.
Or as Kim C says, have it converted to screw drive for a fraction of the cost of a new lens.

Impressive stuff, I just love these especially the more impressionist of the set. Fencing at Lancing is superb. It appears to break all the rules of composition - tiny subject placed dead centre right on the bottom edge of the frame, a huge area of seemingly empty sky, a thin line of horizon marginally above the base line.....but it works so well. A masterpiece.

David, David and Mr B. Many thanks for the positive comments. They are much appreciated especially points raised over Texting Alice and crops of the grazing deer on the traffic island.

Thanks for all the kind comments. The stainless steel and frosted glass heron on the river banks at Durham is the latest piece of public sculpture to appear in the city. Gary, you are probably correct, Texting Alice is a crop and might look better a little wider.

December Streets of Durham

From my photo walk around Durham yesterday with my Pentax K3 and 70-200 f2.8 zoom. The Durham Christmas deer appear on a road island in the city this time every year. The stainless steel and frosted glass heron is the city's latest piece of public art.

Lovely set of images, the opening scene at Sheffield is dramatic, the silhouetted figures and birds at Rhyl really appeals to me but each and everyone of these is a masterpiece. Visiting new and varied locations, as you do with our job, certainly inspires you.
