Fantastic Gary. The cover's great and I bet the spread of pictures inside was terrific. Your portfolio in the link is quite amazing.

Very enjoyable set of images showcasing this artist's work. Some critics might call this plagiarism but I believe this is more of a tribute and a willingness to share his art with others.

Only five entries so far this week. Hurry along you regular entrants I'm sure you've all got some great images to fit the 'hurry' theme.

Weekly competition #587 In A Rush
I'm looking for a winning photo that illustrates the rush of modern life, people hurrying everywhere; to the shops, to work, school, college, to meet a lover perhaps. It can be quite a wide ranging interpretation illustrated by traffic jams, train/bus passengers, airport chaos, heaving crowds in a shopping mall or football ground..... its up to you. I'll keep an open mind on the various ways of looking at this subject.
The rules are simple: entries must be taken on Pentax cameras or closely related clones. deadline is 12 midnight British time Sunday October 14.,

What a great selection, you had a very rewarding trip to Wales. I particularly like the red kites in action.

I like the 2.8 capability of my 70-200 particularly when I'm doing railway photography in poor light or at events such as the Edinburgh Fringe where I'm grabbing on-the-move portraits of performers and want to have great bokeh. I frequently go wider than f4.
But f4 v f2.8 raises a technical question that I don't quite understand. Does any f2.8 lens stopped down to f4 give better image quality than a wide open f4? I'm sure some of the technical wizards on here will know the answer.

Best wishes with the new system Stan but I'm glad you're keeping a Pentax presence.
I've been amazed at the number of serious photographers who've been going over to mirrorless systems in the past couple of years. I can see the benefit of lighter gear, especially for those of us of a certain age, but not so long ago the race was on for bigger, better(?) full frame cameras. Quite a few people in my camera club have made the leap, some of them top class operators.
For now I'll resist the move to mirrorless although I must admit the weight of my gear seems to get heavier as I get older especially as I use my D FA*70-200 zoom more and more often. (Its such a superb lens but its heavy).
It means my lightest and smallest DSLR, the blue K30, is getting more and more use, particularly when I go hunting for street photo opportunities.

Nice one Neil. York station makes a wonderful backdrop for steam train pictures.

I feel sure the loco would have been one of the two Carnforth based Jubilee Class engines, 'Leander' or 'Galatea', or the rebuilt Merchant Navy Pacific, 'British India Line', but if, as Peter says, Leander is otherwise engaged that leaves the MN or the red Jubilee Galatea..
