Well I have a very different evaluation of them. Stuff loosens and the head has again started slipping after they took it back for repair or replace. Dire quality and wouldn't touch any product of theirs again with a barge pole.

Avoid like the plague would be my advice.
I think your assessment is a bit unfair Mike. I've had a Redsnapper Tripod for several years and it has been through the mill, battered and bruised, but still functions as it should. The legs have allen keys at the top which can be tightened, they can work loose but can either be regularly nipped up, or can be fixed with some thread seal.

The quality on Redsnapper tripods is great for the price, I would strongly disagree with your 'Dire quality and wouldn't touch any product of theirs again with a barge pole' statement. We are all entitled to our opinons, mine is a bit different to yours and I hope my post balances the view somewhat.

I was out all day yesterday with my K-3 and the wonderful DA*50-135. It struck me looking through the images today that I don't think I've reached anywhere near the potential of my K-3 yet, after owning it for two and a half years and taking god knows how many images with it. What a great camera, I can only imagine how good the K-1 is.

I'm a Conisbrough Lad, so had to go back yesterday for the Tour De Yorkshire festivities. So, here's a set of images from the day, not particularly focussed on the cycle racing as I was more interested in what was going on around it. All with the K-3, lenses used are the magnificent DA*50-135 (best ever Pentax Zoom?), Sigma 17-70 F2.8-4 HSM OS and Pentax DA L 55-300.

Fabulous Jon, I think we all miss you on here. What about a return with a K-1?

Well done Gareth, these are really good. I think you've probably found out what a bugger the LED lights are - the photographer's worst enemy! Concert photography is definitely an acquired skill, I have my own formula for dealing with it and stick to what I know (shoot manual, set the exposure via test images and don't worry too much about variations in light which are inevitable).

I set my exposure quite low as the worst scenario is burn-out in bright areas, which is so easy to do with LED lights.

Again, well done with these, they are great.

Hi Derek

The custom WB is different but I don't think you'll get satisfactory results in colour with this filter, it will always look unnatural and not in a very pleasant way. I would tend to stick with a BW conversion; I know this isn't what you're aiming for, but to get better results you are probably going to need a converted camera.

I have the R72 and got best results with my K-x, not sure why? Maybe it allows more IR light onto the sensor. I find also that the R72 is great for photographing old ruins, it has a way of making the stones contrast with the sky and giving an image a '3D' feel. The last shot best illustrates this, I like that one a lot.

Fabulous stuff Tim, I think you chose the right lens for these. I can find nothing I don't like, you should be proud of these shots.
