Liking the last although it has a little lean to it. Why is it IR monochrome images work so well with graveyard images!

No tips I'm afraid, just keep at it. I find IR images really interesting even though I've never attempted them myself.

Cheers Garreth , yea they do seem to go together, don't know why.
There may well be a lean to the left on the last one, it's a tricky one. The tower steps in as it rises and the perspective from which I took the shot. I have a feeling that the tower is leaning, if you have a look at the ground where the grass meets the base of the tower. As far as I can tell looking at the church the grass should be level not leaning to the right. I've tried to balance the 2 but maybe I should tilt the ground to straighten tower.
Cheers

Very nice set Derek... Looks like you're getting a lot of joy from the R72... Nothing much to add except to keep experimenting... In my experience, the graveyard thing tends to be interesting with IR because of the direct contrast between the living and the dead, both physical and metaphorical... Living (grass) vs dead (stone)... particularly like your first one where the two are mixed together (moss/lichen on gravestone), but they're all gd...

A good set of images. I'm sure from seeing these that you will progress quickly in this area of photography. The last image is a real stand out shot.

Best regards

Thanks guys, that last one is with the k3, the rest with K5,
Might look into getting other ir filters. To try out false colour and maybe the 850/890 for more contrasty, deeper black, mono shots. The r72 is mainly for mono shots anyway. It's interesting how light works.

Thanks again
Derek

I have the R72 and got best results with my K-x, not sure why? Maybe it allows more IR light onto the sensor. I find also that the R72 is great for photographing old ruins, it has a way of making the stones contrast with the sky and giving an image a '3D' feel. The last shot best illustrates this, I like that one a lot.
