It is a lovely museum and a great place to spend an afternoon with the camera. I like the Spinning Jenny shot too, but my eye was also caught by the one in the photographic studio and reminded me about a shot I took in the same place a couple of years ago. Hope you don't mind me posting it again in this thread:

Thanks for posting the shots and bringing back some nice memories of our visit to Hutton-Le-Hole.

A very promising set Gareth, it will have been worth the effort if the rest are as good as these. I too like the last one best, but they are all very nice.

I particularly like 2, 3 and 4 John, the light in the first one looks a bit harsh and directional, which is probably also the case in 2, 3 and 4 but it works in those because of the contrasts. The lens / camera combination looks to be very good.

They are very cute and beautifully shot / processed. I suppose if I'm being in my hyper-critical mode they are not natural / candid, but then that's the objective here! I love your work Maria and these are well up to your usual (and by now expected) standard.

This is most definitely veering more towards art than photography and I don't think it matters whether we all 'get it' or not. The same is true of what most of us would classify as fine art, it goes from one extreme to the other, i.e. classical landscapes to cubism. Personally I much prefer most of Bills other work to these, not because I don't appreciate the skill, artistry and effort that has gone into them, but because they aren't to my taste.

Well done Bill for having the vision to take and post these and for stimulating some much needed debate and comment on what is a very different phtographic style to what we're used to seeing on here.

From what I've seen on here, bearing in mind the resolution on the site is poor, the K-1 blows all other previous Pentax DSLR's a mile out of the water. It's not for me at present because I don't have enough AF lenses to get the best from it, but I would not hesitate in upgrading if I had the funds to replace some of my lenses.

The K-5 and K-3 series are still serious photographic kit though and unless you need the resolution and low light capabilities of the K-1 for particular professional applications, I think the decision to upgrade is more about 'want' than 'need' for most of us.

Whilst in Santorini for just 1 day on a recent cruise holiday, I decided to take a series of shots with the K-3 and 55-300 lens, the objective being to take some images that are not the norm for this location. Most Santorini shots you see are wide angles. These focus on compressing the perspective and picking out details, shapes and colours, which is not difficult with so many gorgeous subjects here. All comments welcomed.
