No problems with mine so far. Had it four months now.

I've just done the same, it looks fabulous on Flickr. The one to the left of it (mono of a young bloke) is also impressive.

I assume that I need to calibrate my lens then
No offence meant Ralph, don't take it personally! When I said this I was meaning that it was only fractionally out, and I think this is correct. If it's not absolutely perfect it can be difficult to judge the performance potential. I've just noticed also that the lens used is a zoom - this makes the performance of the TC very impressive indeed in this shot and I imagine it would be stellar with a DA*300.

The focus is ever so slightly off on the bird shot, it is front focussed a tad so this doesn't quite tell us the whole story, but it certainly looks promising. I would like to see some taken with the DA*300!

That's a quality lens Alistair, these are the best street shots I have seen you post so far. I'm hoping my 50-135 will focus a bit quicker as it has the latest SDM motor fitted, I'll report back when it arrives.

However, I think the focus speed is more to do with the focus throw (long) on this lens, which is good news for focus accuracy, even if it's a bit slow.

My point I was badly trying to get across, was the Sigma ef 610 Dg St When not in P-ttl mode only has two manual flash settings. Max and min.. So can be a little tricky.

The Youngnuo is a far better flash, when used with triggers.
Thanks for the clarification Stuart, I have no knowledge of the Sigma flash, so your point is a valid one and well made. I agree that manual flashes are best for using with triggers, the Yongnuo is one option, there are cheaper ones that work just as well too. It may be worth checking out 'Neewer TT560 Speedlites' on Amazon, I have two of these and they are great, the light output from them is much better than I get from my Metz P-TTL flash and they are easily controllable. They cost around £30 each and are a bargain for what you get (flash unit, soft case and a foot to stand them on when you can't attach to a tripod).

I do like these images, especially 1,2,4 and 5. However, they all share a common trait in that they look a little 'washed out', not exactly overexposed but veering towards that. As a result, they don't have the Impact that they could have.

My recommendation for a first DSLR would be to spend less than £250 and get a K-x. Absolutely superb camera that you can buy in good condition for about £150 or even less.

This was my first DSLR and I have owned four of them, two of which are in the possession of my two sons! The sensor on the K-x (12.3mp) is great, especially in low light and almost equals a K-5 for low light performance.

I don't have one to sell, but I'm sure you could easily find a good example.

When you put a trigger on the Sigma flash. You will lose the ability to P-TTL and just be able to use it in manual mode.

I'm not aware of any triggers you can purchase on Pentax that will remote P-TTL. So no great point in my opinion purchasing expensive ones. I hope someone proves me wrong.....
I'm not sure if this is too much of an issue as cameras prior to the K-3 didn't work too well in P-TTL mode. With a K-3 it's a different matter, but manual mode is probably best with a K-r I would think.
