Yongnuo YN-560III Flash

I am looking to buy the above flash to go with my Pentax K-R and my Sigma EF-610 DG ST. I am also looking to buy a set of flash triggers and a transmitter so I can use them off camera. Can anyone advise me as to which triggers will work with the above set up. Thanks in advance.

When you put a trigger on the Sigma flash. You will lose the ability to P-TTL and just be able to use it in manual mode.

I'm not aware of any triggers you can purchase on Pentax that will remote P-TTL. So no great point in my opinion purchasing expensive ones. I hope someone proves me wrong.....

I'm not sure if this is too much of an issue as cameras prior to the K-3 didn't work too well in P-TTL mode. With a K-3 it's a different matter, but manual mode is probably best with a K-r I would think.

David. Your comment is very true. My point I was badly trying to get across, was the Sigma ef 610 Dg St When not in P-ttl mode only has two manual flash settings. Max and min.. So can be a little tricky.

The Youngnuo is a far better flash, when used with triggers.

Thanks for the clarification Stuart, I have no knowledge of the Sigma flash, so your point is a valid one and well made. I agree that manual flashes are best for using with triggers, the Yongnuo is one option, there are cheaper ones that work just as well too. It may be worth checking out 'Neewer TT560 Speedlites' on Amazon, I have two of these and they are great, the light output from them is much better than I get from my Metz P-TTL flash and they are easily controllable. They cost around £30 each and are a bargain for what you get (flash unit, soft case and a foot to stand them on when you can't attach to a tripod).
