Very impressive Danny, I've had a look at the RAW file and it is pretty clean and detailed. That combination of lens and camera seems to work well.

BTW, what do you mean about a 'K-3 RAW Update'?

The K-3 shutter is rated at 150,000 actuations, but the K-5 is still 100,000.

Very nice Steve, the second Dipper in particular is a lovely shot, but I also like the Pied Wagtail.

You must be unlucky, I've clocked up around 50,000 actuations on various Pentax DSLR's and never had a problem with cameras or lenses, apart from a K-x which failed, probably as a result of water ingress (my fault). I'm touching wood as I write this!

I can see the merits of using filters like this to morph images in a video, but not so much for individual photos. Unless there is a brief to produce images like this, or a creative reason that makes it valid, there's no compelling reason to do it.

Where this differs from images manipulated by the likes of Autumnlight for example is that these are done just for the sake of it without any serious attempt to match a particular filter or processing technique to the a desired look for the final image. Maria's (Autumnlight) images are the opposite of this, the processing always complements the original image and makes it into something special that it may not have been originally. That is what I call artistry, these are not.

I don't criticise Nigel for doing it and posting them though, each to their own and at least it prompts some discussion and opinion.

All very good Alan. Which of the K-5 or K-3 is your favourite camera?

Thanks all for the comments, first impressions of the DA*50-135 are that it is a wonderful lens, yes it's a little slow in the AF department, but it seems to focus accurately and the rendering is just fantastic, especially at wider apertures.

Superb stuff Mark, it's great to see some successful commercial work with Pentax gear. I love the imagination you have applied to these shots in the first instance and then the skill to turn your ideas into effective shots that really convey the message you were asked to convey.
