A lovely and varied set Simon. The last one of the Ducklings is just superb!

Doesn't "good glass" give better results on most cameras:
Yes, very true, but it's more critical on some than others. Some fairly ordinary lenses could probably out-resolve the early digital sensors, but this is not so with the K-3.

Great stuff Jon, you are making that K-3 sing! It really is a superb camera and you are never in danger of not doing it justice.

Very good shot, not typical of model shoots, which is a positive. I agree with both John's and Smeggy's comments.

I didn't say it was the fault of the Metz, I said it was a waste of time with a K-5! I don't think I was wrong. The K-5 is poor with P-TTL flashes.

Hi Roger

The 'satiny' texture that the K3/100mm combination has produced is interesting. I too have been photographing red tulips today using a K5 and Sigma 105, they simply do not have that sheen irrespective of the camera/light positioning.

I'm a massive fan of both the DFA 100mm macro and the DA*50-135, they both have a magical way of rendering images. Having said that, I'm also a fan of the Sigma 105 macro and only sold it because I couldn't justify owning two macro lenses of similar focal length. I think the K-3 also has a significant effect on the images, it really is a superb camera and is leaving my K-5IIs in the shade at the moment. The K-3 does seem to add a sort of 'gloss' to images and produces more accurate colours than the K-5IIs does. I have had to adjust the red hue though to make it accurate to the actual colour of these flowers; all Pentax cameras seem to add a magenta tint to reds.

Great stuff Alistair, that lens is certainly working well with both you and your camera! I like them all, but the first and last in particular catch my eye.

I've had my K-3 for a few months now and I'm starting to get to grips with it. I took advantage of the lovely weather today to go out into the garden and capture some images of the gorgeous orange-red tulips we have growing in one of the borders. I'm finding that the K-3 is a magnificent camera for taking photos of flowers and for macro work, in fact the K-5IIs is hardly getting a look in of late. I hope you like these images, please pass comment, whether you like them or not!
