I can recommend Mattmatic's ebook for flash. Excellent guide and brilliant value.

not even use the 'dust shaking off' thingy as there is no dust inside to shake off !
Select f/22, point the camera at a plain white surface, defocus it, and see if the image the camera produces is a clean, plain tone, or a plain tone with various dots on. I'd wager the latter.

That programme was (I assume) 'Wild Places of Essex' by Robert Macfarlane, and it was taken from his book The Wild Places, which is a nice read. Try anything by Roger Deakin too, a big influence on MacFarlane.
I've always found Rainham Marshes a bit flat for my liking, as far as photos are concerned, I prefer somewhere with more trees, and a bit of contour. Good place for shots of Water Voles though, not that I've ever got any there.

In your layer palette, click the 'new adjustment layer' button (circle, half black, half white), and select hue/saturation.
In the first window that comes up, slide the saturation slider to the left, making the image black and white.
Now drop down the 'Edit' drop-down box (currently says 'Master'), and go through the other colours shown there, adjusting the 'lightness' slider, and seeing what effect it has on the image.
When you're happy with that, click 'okay' to save the new layer. You can then add another adjustment layer as above, this time a brightness/contrast, or levels, to work on the contrast in your image.
By using layers like this, you're not actually doing anything to your basic image, so if you don't like what you've done, you can either delete those layers you've just done, or double click on them to readjust them. You can also paint in masks, so they only affect part of the image.

Might be something along the lines of this thread, something might just need a tweak.

Well I will probably have a Pentax O-ME53 Magnifying Eyecup for sale next week
And Steve saying "Much better, ie clearer & sharper than the Pentax Pentax O-ME53" doesn't help.
Dan
P.S. Mike, is there anything you don't buy?
