I went the other way to Hefty - I had a Uniloc (essentially the same design as the Benbo), but after a few years (4?) I found it never locked as rigidly as it used to, and when I disassembled it, I found the faces that should grip together when the one bolt is tightened had worn smooth.

It also let me down badly when the thread of the bolt stripped, and the tripod was completely useless. A replacement bolt didn't seem to work, but by then I'd already got myself a 055ProB, and have to say I find it more rigid, and a better all round tripod.

I loved the way you could quickly get the Uniloc into position, and the fact that, as Hefty says, you could get it into some very tight corners and odd shapes, but I wouldn't swap back to one now. Having said that, I wouldn't swap it for a 055XProB either, as you can't split the centre column like you can with the ProB. I often use the legs with just the head on the short piece of column for low level work, rather than having the centre column horizontal.

Either a macro lens, or just a 50mm f/1.7 will do nicely Cedric.

These look great Jon, I'll try to get mine processed and up here tomorrow night.

Cheers for organising it, it was good to have a meet-up again.

Do that search again Stefan, and check the "Search for this phrase" button first, you'll then get:

Buying cokin filters
Anyone out there know where I can buy online z pro cokin filters at decent prices? I am residing in Italy and there isn't much access to pro photo shops like in the UK and Australia.

Buying cokin filters
Just a comment on the Cokin filters, I've had some "issues" with the P series producing colour casts, as have lots of other people on another forum - I've recently replaced them with Hi-Tech filters which seem much better in this respect simon

Need/want Lee/Cokin filters
A little while ago there was a Cokin ND grad kit on amazon for about £50 - three ND grad filters and holder, you then need to buy an appropriate holder adaptor depending on what size lens (thread) you want to use it with (less than a tenner for an adaptor) - might be worth a look if you don't want to spend too much to start with. I have a set to experiment with and I think the quality is pretty go...

Etc, etc...

A couple of weeks ago I spent two hours out in my local park in heavy rain, using my K10D and DA*300mm lens (both weathersealed). Both were fine, and as I was using a tripod too, I had to keep putting the camera down to set-up the tripod. So it got a bit muddy.

I rinsed it off in a puddle.

I have absolutely no doubt that the weather sealing works.

Well, I'm still coming! Hope to get there at 6.30, depending on what the travel's like. Should I wear a red carnation?

Filters could go in with lenses...

Most of the other things you mention Stefan could, IMHO, go in the General Chat forum.

A polariser would have taken the shine off some of the foliage (ivy in the tree left hand side for instance, and perhaps increased the depth of colour in the water), but for me the main thing would be to exclude the sky, I don't like the bright highlights here.

And I think there's a drop of water on the lens, right hand side, where the bare thin tree trunk is.
